Relationship Status: Single and Loving Every Moment (But not exactly short of offers...)

Brain Status: On Most Days; Usually Off On Friday Afternoons ;)

Hi there, and thank you for stopping by my profile. These few minutes are a few minutes that you will never get back, so please, make yourself comfortable, sit down in a comfy chair, make yourself a nice cup and tea and make the experience of perusing my random profile just that little bit more enjoyable.

What qualifies me to help people? Like most people, I've delved headfirst into go-nowhere relationships, fought with relatives and friends, and considered stapling post-its bearing very obscene messages to horrid bosses foreheads. Fortunately, I've come through those moments of my life as a stronger person who is now seldom rattled majorly by anything.

I work in customer service/sales at the moment, and also am carving out a literary career slowly and steadily. It's a tough career; there are a lot of proverbially starving artists out there who would gladly stab any competitor in the forehead with a stiletto for a book deal with a certain publisher. My day job is fantastic (but something of a sinecure...) and gives me a marvellous amount of thinking time, but my passion is all for the written word.

Aesthetics are important to me, and I appreciate art and architecture a great deal more than I appreciate anything else. The artists who have forever scratched their names upon my impressionable young heart are Constable, Vladimir Gusev, Pino Daeni, Etienne Piot, Jean Beraud, Soulacroix... gee, that list might actually go on long enough to form a book! To me, Beauty Is Everything! Not necesarily the beauty that is deemed "in" by the corruptive ad. executives of the world, but genuine, true beauty, which exists as much in the Pantheon as in the coquettish smiles of schoolgirls who have just fallen in love for the first time, and also in the grateful gazes of our pets as we treat them to bowls of milk and little fish treats.

I am an avid reader. If it has words, I will read it, but not necessarily like it. When it comes to literature, I am hard to please. The works of Balzac, Wilde, Goethe, Victor Hugo and Voltaire are my favourites. I do not care for modern authors any more than I care for the monstrosities that we call modern architecture.

I adore the theatre with my whole heart. There is something magical about watching a play. The atmosphere is magnetic, alive with expectation. A glance at the faces of those around you reminds you that we are all curious little children at heart :)

I believe that life is for living. There's a lot of fun to be had, and I feel sorry that people feel weighed down by life's lead-lined issues. If I can cheer up even one person, I'll be a happy girl indeed.

Are men and women really that different in terms of our sexuality?

Q.   Perhaps I'm wrong, but it seems to me there's a tendancy these days to want to think that men and women are identical, or close to it, in most or all respects. As an (obviously unscientific) experiment, I created both a fake male profile and a fa...

A.   23 February 2011: What a great experiment! I absolutely love it! While it is true that women enjoy sex, we're more likely to seek an emotional connection than a sexual connection. Sometimes an emotional connection overrides a sexual one. I'm not sure whether thi... (read in full...)
