I'm going on a date. I don't know what I'm going to say. My dad says I should just say, "Tell me something about you," but I still don't know what I'm going to say. I actually never went on a date. Help!

firstlovelastlove agony auntFirst date, hundred and first date, this is something fun my baby girl and I do. If you go to a place where there are lots of people, point out a couple and say something like "I bet she's telling him ___ please don't order beer, you know what beer does to you." Just make it the way it should be, fun and light. Have a great time!

Just laugh, say you're shy and don't know what to say, and take it from there. Chances are, it will start a conversation and you'll wonder what you were even worried about! Good luck =)

A female reader, hpoco Switzerland +, writes (19 February 2011):

hpoco agony aunt"Date" is just a formal word for spending time with someone. So, just take this time you have to get to know the person you are on a date with better. It might make you feel better to mentally have a list of questions prepared. Normal first date topics revolve around family background, work/school, hobbies, music/movie preferences...etc. Just try to make sure you are enjoying yourself, and she will see that and appreciate it.
