The agony aunt is completely right. Its happened to me before, worrying that you are pregnant can stall your period. Its mind over matter! You need to get yourself tested properly at your GP and if that is negative just accept it and stop the worrying and your body will work in its own natural way!

It could just be the stress of thinking that you're pregnant, thats happened to me once or twice.
You should go to the doctors and ask for them to do a preganacy test for you to make sure. Usually these will confirm whether you are or not. After I got one done at the doctors and it said that I wasn't pregnant even though my period was a couple of weeks late, it started the next day once I stopped stressing.
So my tips would be relax and go to the doctors to get one, even if it is embaressing its worth it.

Where did you get the pregnancy test? Was it something you bought at a grocery store or pharmacy, or did you go to a Dr.
If you bought one of the home tests then go to a Dr. and have them run one.

There are lots of reasons you coul be late. Obviously pregnancy would be the first suspicion. Sometimes, if you arent 100% sure of your cycle you could be testing too soon and may be getting a false negative, but as you havent had any problems with contraception I wouldnt worry too much.Do you take the contraceptive pill? Sometimes I used to skip periods randomly for no reason, which was worrying, but can happen sometimes.Have you lost or gained much wieght recently? This can affect our hormone levels and cause our cycle to fluctuate. If you are under alot of stress at work or school or uni this can cause your cycle to change too. If your period doesnt start in about a week I would go to the doctors and they can do a more accurate pregnancy test and explore more reasons why it hasnt started yet.HTH

Maybe the reason why you're a week late is because you are stressed with the idea of being pregnant, being worried and not getting any straight answers at all... I was late once... even if I've never had any sex, but it was in the middle of a really stressy period,, the exams were coming up and I had some personal troubles...and I missed a month!
But still, just to make sure...I recomend you to, maybe take another pregnancy test... if it comes back negative again, there's nothing to worry about, love... I hope this helped you

First and foremost you need to relax, being a week late is no big deal. If you were careful then you should have nothing to worry about. I ALWAYS get my period regularly and there was a point in time when I went THREE MONTHS without it!! i went to the doctor took a bunch of pregnancy tests and nothing. My doctor told me it could be stress, a change in eating habits, or simply a life change you have made recently. I wouldn't worry too much. If you do not get it within the next two weeks I would go talk to your doctor. -hope this helps :)

That's happened to me plenty of times, and I haven't even had sex!Maybe due to stress, worry. I was once 2 weeks late. Stress makes sense because obviously if you're late, you worry, which consequently could have made you even later! On the other hand, the test could be wrong.Go to your doctors or get another test if I was you.X

stress would be the main cause. it's a funny thing because when we stress, we can belate our period, which is ironic, because then we get even more stressed out. Just relax, you know you're not pregnant, it'll soon creep up on you.

Theres always a possibility, its quite common to get false negatives, particularly if you use a cheaper brand of test. Clearblue are the best and most efficiant. Its best to go get tested at your GP, they'll be able to do a blood test as well as a urine test just to make certain. It could be stress or another health condition. Best to get checked out!
