A reader, anonymous, writes (16 October 2010):

Get to a clinic ASAP and get yourself Plan B (the morning after pill).

In my past, my health insurance covered the cost of the medication.

In the future, if hormonal contraceptives are not an option for you, CONDOMS!

ivanichiaynus agony auntIF you are lucky enough to have got away without getting pregnant this time, pay heed to all the other answers on here.

At your age you are at your most fertile and any slip will make you a mother. For best possible protection you need 3 (yes, three!) forms of contraception:-

1) Physical barrier... Condom or cap.

2) Hormonal........... The Pill, implant or injection

3) Chemical........... Spermicide.

I agree with everything said here, but you also need to tell your boyfriend to wise the F*** up, and wear a condom.

Or your next cupid question in nine months is going to be; I have a baby now and my boyfriend left me. Would condoms have helped?

A female reader, Tisha-1 United States +, writes (13 October 2010):

Tisha-1 agony auntYou may have avoided pregnancy last time, but trying to 'wash out' the sperm actually tends to push the little critters up into the uterus, where they lurk for days and days waiting for the egg to pop down. You HAVE to go to the pharmacy/chemist/whatever you call the place where drugs are dispensed and talk to the pharmacist/chemist and get emergency contraception.

Your boyfriend and you are going to be parents very soon if you keep up your current sexual activity. Are you ready to be pregnant? Are you ready to deal with the aftermath of a sexually transmitted infection (STI)? If you are, then by all means, continue on having unprotected sex.

If you are NOT ready, then go see a doctor and have a chat about contraception and get smart. You are going to have a very limited future, and difficult times ahead, based on your current level of sex education and apparent indifference to the consequences of your sexual activity.

I don't care how great sex feels without a condom. That momentary pleasure isn't worth 18 years of parenthood nor the potential health risks of an STI. Tell your boyfriend to wear a condom, or you are leaving him. Show some backbone!

Good luck, now I want the next post to tell us you've been round to the pharmacy/chemists or you've gone to your mother and told her what's happened. Get some help in real life, we're just people sitting at our computers, you need some adult intervention as you don't seem capable of handling this by yourself. Off you go, get some help now, okay? Take care.

A female reader, mtbutterflyrose United States +, writes (13 October 2010):

An average girl ovulates approx 2 weeks after the first day of her last period...chances are you are still at high risk for prego even in between those days. Plan B is the name of the day after pill. Pull method is only like 40% effective so youd be asking to be prego if you use that method. good luck.

A reader, anonymous, writes (13 October 2010):

You're taking a big risk. Sure, you might not get pregnant. It might not be the time of the month that you're fertile, or your boyfriend might be shooting blanks. But, on the other hand, sperm are active for 3 days, and there is absolutely no way you have washed them all out. Is it really worth the risk that you might get pregnant? Absolutely not!

But don't panic. It's less than 72 hrs since you had unprotected sex, so you have time to get to a chemist or a doctor and ask for the morning after pill. It's simple, it doesn't have too many side effects, and it'll protect you from unwanted pregnancy. The earlier you go, the more effective it is, so get moving!

For any young ladies reading this in the same situation but at a later point - you can still protect yourself up to 5 days after sex by going to a family planning clinic and get a coil fitted.

Please don't take this risk again! Think about the disruption to your life, and the pain you might go through if you fell pregnant. Think of how your family might react. It's easy to prevent all of that stress - get the contraception injection, the pill, or simply use condoms.

A female reader, shnookims South Africa +, writes (13 October 2010):

shnookims agony auntNo, it will not prevent you from becoming pregnant. Maybe you should try and get the morning after pill incase you are now?

I suggest getting some form of contraception for the future. If possible, an IUCD device (a copper T that goes inside your uterus) is pretty effective as you don't need to remember to take a pill everyday and/or use a condom. Of course, it wont prevent form STDS.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (13 October 2010):

Sperm doesn't sit in your vagina, they attach themselves in your uterus. They can sit there quietly for up to two weeks waiting on an egg. They will try to do there job and mostly without fail. here:

http://www.plannedparenthood.org/teen-talk/watch/how-pregnancy-happens-26792.htm

The good news is they arent alone while they're waiting, a guy release upto a million sprems at a time. so one of them may work. No you cant pee them out either. remember those guys attach themselves to your uterus wall. go find a clinic...

A female reader, anonymous, writes (13 October 2010):

hi,

well you can not "wash" cum out. nor does usuing a douche after he came in you prevent you from becoming pregnant.

you will need to go to your doctor or drug store and get an emergency contraceptive pill aka the morning after pill.

here there is one called "plan b" you can get it at your local walmart pharmacy, walgreens, or cvs and cost about 30-40 dollars.

you must take it within the first 72 hours of having unprotected sex for it to work properly.

i hope this helps you.

A reader, anonymous, writes (13 October 2010):

You don't even know how basic sex works...let alone how to care for a baby. So do yourself a favor and wait till you understand basic mechanics, such as washing the outside will not prevent pregnancy and then start sleeping with boys... You're going to ruin your life and the life of your offspring with your ignorance. I've never heard anyone say that... Do you really think that sperm are that weak and that women could have simply avoided unwanted pregnancies by washing themselves??!

A female reader, Indie23 Australia +, writes (13 October 2010):

Indie23 agony auntOkay, what you need to do is go to the chemist and get something called a morning after pill. Even if you did wash the sperm out, there is a chance not all of it is gone. The morning after pill will stop any one it reaching your ovaries and making you pregnant. If you're going to be having sex regularly then you should consider going on the pill and you should always use condoms.

Best Wishes, Indie.

Go to your nearest Pharmacy and get the morning after pill or get one on prescription from your GP.

Next time get your boyfriend to wear a condom.

If you think 'washing it out' will stop you getting pregnant then you are not mature enough to be having sex.

Take care of your sexual health x
