Might be a bit late here, but don't worry about makeup too much. I wear black everything eye wise, except shadow. You do NOT want to follow my footsteps though, haha. I wear tons of eyeliner and people say I look 16. This COULD be a good thing. But it means I wear so much make up I look 2 years older. Not good.
Wear dark brown eyeliner and mascara. I found Covergirl Waterproof Professionals works just as well as Lash Blast, etc.
A little Burt's Bees lip color, with chapstick.
And blue and concealer. That's it(:

You sounded so happy, and so excited I got worried that you would go over board and try to look like your mother rather than the beautiful young girl that you are.
SIMPLICITY, SIMPLICITY, SIMPLICITY..... You need to apply as little makeup as possible. Makeup enhances what is already there. Lipgloss rather than lipstick, a little blusher rather than foundation. Remember KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID (KISS) People shouldn't notice you've got makeup on. Everyone should say, "Girlygirly looks so pretty lately, I wonder what's going on in her life" rather than "Have you seen girlgirly, she slapped on so much makeup the guys think everyone thinks she's cheap".... Speak to your mum, you can also try "videojug", they have video instructions on how to apply makeup and still look naturally beautifull.... Take care of you babes, big, big hugs.

My rule with makeup?
Two at a time. Meaning if I only wear eyeliner and lipgloss or foundation and mascara or foundation and lipgloss.
Everyone who has said "less is more" is right.
I only wore eyeliner when I was in eighth grade and even now, I still wear a minimal amount since it can age your skin and girls who cake it on? It doesn't look attractive.
Ask your mom to help you with your makeup, since you're allowed to this year. I'm not going to try and convince you otherwise.
Have fun!

NOT attractive. if you're going to go with eye-shadow, stick to something VERY SUBTLE. eyeliner too..can often turn out more for the worse than better. with a SUBTLE touch of course it can look wonderful and accentuate the eyes. what i usually do (and it took me awhile to find something that really worked for me) is apply a very light layer of powder-foundation (preferably "bare minerals" cuz it's fabulous with concealing blemishes or discolorations), a very light splay of blush on the apples of the cheeks, a couple coats of brown mascara, and usually just some sweet-flavored chapstick (not as messy as lipgloss ---and my boyfriend likes it! ;] ) I've tried many other things though. for instance i did try liquid foundation for a short time. HORRID. it just looked so unnatural to me and to people i knew---it made my face so oily no matter what kind i tried--- and i would not dare scratch/let people touch my face, for if so it would just come off on your fingers. Eyeliner made me look hoochie...etc, etc.point is, just a couple weeks ago, at school a girl in my class asked me: "do you wear make-up?" and when i said yes she seemed surprised and exclaimed: "wow really? i was just thinking how pretty you looked without it. I didn't think you were wearing any!"Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity. Being able to make yourself beautiful and fool everyone into thinking you were already naturally that beautiful---the art of simplicity!!

She will know what looks good on you, and what is appropriate for you to wear. Personally I think your too young. Makeup on young girls makes young men think that she's trying to send out the signal that she's ready for sex.
Like the anonymous female suggests, wearing make up at your young age, will cause your skin to age more rapidly. I had friends when I was young who loved to wear makeup to school. Now when I see them, I'm shocked by how old they look, even though I'm the same age. They look ten years older than me, and their makeup now looks funny as if it's sunk into the skin. Unfortunately this could also be due to the fact that these girls also had children young and were left to bring up their children alone. Sorry, no offence meant, but thats what happened to these girls I knew.
TasteofIndia is perfectly right about the need to clean your face twice a day to make sure you take the makeup off and to take a rest from makeup now and again. This will hopefully prevent you from looking old before your time.

Hmm... good tips and advice:
As Tremor said, less is more. I find it's best to really emphasize ONE thing on your face. Like, go for some cool eyeliner, but go with a simple gloss, and light blush. Or, choose a bold lipstick, but lighten up the eyes. Too intense a combination can be overwhelming!!
- Make sure you take off your makeup EVERY NIGHT. Simple face wash will do. Seriously, otherwise your face gets all junked up and it really shows. Nobody likes breakouts! Use light moisturizer mornings and nights. I really like Clean & Clear's line, but that's just me.
- Take a break from mascara and/or foundation when you can. Give the foundation a break and just use tinted moisturizer instead. Give your face some time to breathe! And as for the mascara, I find when I take a break from using any for three days and give my lashes time to grow, they look SO much fuller and lush when I use mascara again!!
- I hate lipstick because it's all gunky and can get on your teeth and can be a MESS when kissing... so, instead I find lipliner in a shade that I like and I fill in my whole lip. Then I just stick a really sweet gloss on top of it and the color stays forever. Always wipe off the corners of your mouth after you finish applying lip gloss so everything looks tidy!
Finally... the essentials for an 8th graders makeup kit:
- tinted moisturizer
- lipgloss (clear, pink and bronze... that should cover all your outfits)
- mascara
- blush (I really like the "mousse" or "whipped" kind, it feels so much lighter!)
- eyeliner (for special occasions)
- lipliner (if you like a darker "lipstick" look)
Some random makeup thoughts, sweetness! Hope I helped and have fun exploring makeup!

The best advice I can give is this: LESS IS MORE.
Don't go wearing lipgloss, eyeshadow, mascara and eyeliner all at once because you'll look like a hussy, especially at your age.
As a young teenager, the most appropriate and flattering thing would be to stick with one, maybe two, subtle bits of makeup - some lipgloss and some mascara, or maybe just some eyeliner. I'd really steer away from eyeshadow, but that's just because I personally dislike the stuff.
Experiment a little while you're at home so you know what looks good on you, and ask your mum for help - she can probably offer you some good tips.
Good luck with 8th grade!

Ok umm... i'm sorry, but 8th grade? that is a little young to be wearing makeup. the girls that wore makeup at my school before highschool were considered 'easy' if u know what i mean possibly. But if you absolutely must, i'll admit i started wearing a TINY idy bidy amount in grade 8 just go with a dark brown mascara, black is too black unless u have dark hair. when u get a little older, like grade 9, try a neutral light pink lip thing..not gloss its sticky. and another tip, do NOT overdo the eyeliner, it looks terrible and just cheap. why not try neutral, classy, carefreee! more guys dig a low maintenance girl than a high maintenance one.

You can always ask your mom or your sister since you said your mom will aprove. Just don't over do it and try to make it natural. Good luck!

When u start wearing makeup at such a young age it speeds up the aging process of your facial skin cells believe it or not. By the time you're 30 you're gonna look like your like 40. Take your time sweety don't be in a rush to grow up, take it from me trust me. I'm sure you're pretty just the way you are.
