Okay I've never talked to anyone about this before, here it goes.

It's weird..

So, I hate letting people see me in natural lighting. Like out side and stuff, or even in a really well lite room. I hate my skin, my complexion is horrible. I have uneven skin tone, I break out horribly on my chin and my cheeks, I have white heads which I pop and they turn into holes. since I have such a disgusting face, I put on wayy too much cover up. I don't look orange or anything, its just caked on. and when I'm with my guy, I hate being in the light or even doing things during the day. because after we make out and stuff, my make up is all whipped off and you can see my disguising skin. I'm scared of him seeing it. I never don't wear make up, unless I'm going to bed and no ones sleeping over or I'm not at anyones house. Even right when I wake up, before I see my family and eat breakfast, I have to put some cover up on. I won't go swimming for fear of my make up coming off. I seriously hate seeing my guy during the day, I try my best to only hang out at night. I always redo my cover up at least every few hours and when I'm at school, I sometimes put my compact in my folder and do it sneakally in the bathroom stall. This controls my life. Will my skin ever get better. I wish I was beautiful.

okay understand that I know what you're going through and 25 and I still get acne. started in me when I was about 14 years old took antibiotics only a worse than benzyl peroxide tea tree oil loads of stuff, sad to say I even got colon cleanse. what I think causes acne because no dermatologist knows what causes acne is your ratio to a mega-sexists to a mega-three. in the modern-day diets of man today we have a higher omega six inside a diet which courses and inflammatory response so we need to do is get more all mega-three into our diet because they have an anti-inflammatory response. I am on paleo diet Omega three fish oil if you can get cruel oil is much better make sure you put them inside the freezer if they freeze you've bought the crappy kind. put benzyl peroxide on my face night time and I have acne lamp. but you might want to try going on the pill, because that helps hormones get under control as I am the man there is no pill for me. and some people had great success in taking niacin. best is to go to acme.org and join the forum's and read about people's successes. you probably feel crappy because you're not getting enough sunlight

hi :)

i know how you feel. a lot of us have this problem in our teenage years and it does really take over your life.

i was the same as you, always caking on the foundation and never letting my skin breathe.

definatley consider visiting a dermatologist. they can assess whether there is any hormonal imbalance and also suggest good quality products such as cleansers and facewashes which will be more gentle than what you can get in the shops.

i know its very hard, but when you are at home and not going anywhere busy then ditch the makeup and let you skin have a rest.

drink as much plain water as you can and fruit and veg are also very important.

hang in there it will get better!!

xx.

CindyCares agony auntDid you see a dermatologist ?

You don't mention that so I assume you did not, and you really should.Home remedies will only go so far if your acne comes from chronic hormonal inbalances or other internal causes- you'll need prescription meds. See a professional.

Well what really helped clearing my own skin was cleaning up my diet and working out. Creams and such will only go so far as they only penetrate the first layer of the skin. Eat more veggies, more protein, less junk. Work out 2 or 3 times a week. Doesn't have to be an hour, 20 minutes of high intensity is enough. Drink only water or (green) tea. Not the bags, but the real deal. Within 2 months 50% of my skin problems were gone. In order to look good you have to treat your body well.

Exfoliating your skin is also good, but watch it because if you have oily skin already you're scrubbing away those oils which could (when done too often) worsen the problem. Doing it once a week would be good. When I scrub my face, I mix honey, sugar and a bit of milk together and scrub my face with it. Wash it off with water. Follow up with a moisturizer. I like this homemade scrub better than the expensive stuff from the store.

Hope this helps!

There are specialists who can take care of those acnes sacrs, pimples, whiteheads, blackheads, etc. Ask your parents about seeing one.

Thank you everyone, I appreciate your advice a lot. I want to stop wearing makeup, I hate being 'fake', seriously its gross. I envy people who don't have to wear it. I've never seen anyone with skin like mine; the acne scars, the white and black heads, the uneven skin, the dark bags under my eyes, I would stop wearing makeup or even lessen it, but I can't. my skin doesn't look good no matter how much makeup I wear. Maybe someday my skin will clear up and I'll just wear a light powder to cover the scars. but until then, I have to wear it like this. does anyone have any home remedies to get rid of acne? Will exploiting with salt, like table salt help? well either way, thank you soo much, everyone's advice was wonderful.

I understand how you feel. I used to wear a lot of make up in middle school. But I saw that it was making my skin worse. It caused my skin to break out more and became greasy. It also wasn't helping my self esteem. I always tried to hide myself.

I forced myself to stop and I felt so much better about myself after a few weeks without it. I don't wear it now either. I refuse to hide from anyone. I don't care what other people think of me either. Sure people have pointed out my acne but I don't let it bother me. Everyone has a natural beauty.

If your boyfriend really likes you, he won't care. Quit now for your sake. You're skin condition will worsen because you "cake" it with make up. Don't let other people's judgments cloud your mind and ruin your life.

Why don't you try a make up product called Nude by Nature,it's a powder product that dries on your face like a liquid but is by no means heavy like liquid make up is and it lets your skin breath, and hides a lot of imperfections.please don't squeeze pimples that only makes them worse, try proactive to it's great for skin that breaks out.drink lots of water and try to keep your face clean and free of heavy make up ,as it will not make things better by lathering heaps of stuff on it,your skin needs to breath.look after your skin and it will shine.best wishes.

A female reader, Dorothy Dix Australia +, writes (20 July 2011):

Hi there. You are at an age now where it's rather common to have pimples, acne, blackheads etc.

You are probably just past puberty, so lots of hormonal changes take place at that time.

After a few more years, it will settle down I promise you.

I understand why you cake all that heavy makeup on to hide the zits etc., but that's probably not helping the problem either, because your skin needs to breathe.

The more you cover it up, the pores get blocked and the oils in your skin build up underneath, and further exacerbating the problem you already have.

Another activity which can be helpful for your skin - specially in summer, is going to the beach (without any foundation), and swim in the ocean and the sun drying the salt on your face, helps dry out your pimples as well. It does help. But it's too cold in winter to do this.

Squeezing the pimples helps spread them to other parts of your face, so try to refrain from doing this. Squeezing can also make the pimples you have, become larger and more noticeable - because the skin becomes enflamed and swells.

So from now on, try to go without any facial makeup at all. Then I think that you will see a big improvement almost immediately - and certainly even more, over time.

The skin is so much healthier when it can actually breathe! And it can't breathe, when it's caked thick with makeup all the time, believe me. The pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, etc. all get worse under the makeup, because the oils have nowhere to go - so your skin virtually erupts underneath!

This is what's been happening with you.

Plus, it's really important that you take your makeup off every night before you go to bed. Don't just wait until before you go to bed, it's much better to take it off before your shower, so your skin is clean even longer while you are still up and walking around. Then it's getting more oxygen from the air by being clean, and more oxygen in your bloodstream, from the movement of you walking around.

And why I say to remove it before your shower, is that the later in the night you leave it before you take it off , you just won't be bothered or you'll even forget and wear it to bed. So then you will have more pimples, whiteheads etc. by the following morning.

Prevention is much better than cure.

You need to wash you face with a mild cleanser morning and night - every single day. Any makeup should be thoroughly removed first.

Removing your makeup will give your skin a nice little rest overnight, and will allow it to heal naturally by itself, while you sleep.

When the body is at rest - during sleep - that is when the body heals itself and does all the necessary repairs. And it can't do it's job properly, unless your skin is clean - which means NO makeup to bed.

Regular exercise is also good for your skin - such as walking. You are getting fresh air and more healing oxygen into your blood from the movement. Try it, it really does help. Walking at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes is great. You could even walk every day if you like.

Drinking plenty of fresh tap water, helps hydrate your body and washes out toxins from your blood. Toxins can cause pimples, acne etc.

Plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, are good for the skin also, and general good health.

Exfoliating your skin with some mild exfoliating product from your chemist, lifts the top layers of skin and keeps it looking good. Removing the top layer of dead skin cells, helps the skin to breathe even more effectively. This is excellent for all skin types, whether you have pimples or not. It's great!

You only need to do it about once every 3 days approximately, and it's certainly worth considering.

Have you tried any acne products from your local pharmacy?

One product that's been praised by many, including many celebrities, is "Proactive". It's basically a four part process. Cleanser, Toner, Repair and Oil-Free Moisture Lotion.

They have a number of other anti-acne products as well, such as makeup foundations etc.

If you want to find out more about this, you might like to visit their website to read about what it does, for yourself.

Their website address is:- proactive.com

Hope you find this information helpful. Best wishes.

A female reader, maverick494 United States +, writes (20 July 2011):

If your skin is causing this much trouble, I think it would be advisable to get treatments done at the beauty parlor. They have anti blemish/acne treatments that significantly improve the appearance of your skin. It's expensive, but I've seen good results on a friend with a similar problem, so I think it's worth a try.

Also, ask your doctor about acne treatments. Tell him or her how you feel about your skin and ask what can be done about it. I've heard there are hormone treatments that reduce the appearance of acne. I however am not an expert, so ask.

Lastly, clean up your diet if you haven't already. Drink a lot of water and/or green tea throughout the day and try to skip diet soda and coffee. Eat fresh veggies and protein and skip the junk food and candy for as much as you can. This alone should help a lot.

Also, all this cover up isn't helping your skin. Instead of concealer, buy a foundation. Go to a store with professionals and have them test several on your skin for the right match. Since I don't know your exact skintype I can't properly recommend. Get medium to full coverage foundation so you won't have to fool around with concealer on top of that. What also helps to better blend your makeup is to moisturize your skin first and then apply the makeup.

Lastly, stop worrying so much about covering up your skin. Sometimes, the more people try to hide something, the more obvious their problem becomes. Much like obese people trying to hide their bodies in tent like clothes, which only accentuates their obesity.

I hope this helps and good luck!
