ok.. so i have pretty long hair. it goes down to my ribs. my hair is naturally very, very curly! usually i just scrunch my hair and work with my curls.. but lately like halfway through the school day, my hair gets very frizzy. it bugs me alot. i understand the reasons for frizz but its annoying. everyone likes my hair straight.. but it takes two hours to straighten, even with a good straightener. so do guys like curly hair, even if its frizzy sometimes... or should i spend two hours everynight straightening it?

PLEASE HELP! ANY ANSWERS WELCOME!!!

hi there bee

okay same here

i have long curly hair to about my ribs too. i normally settle for two small plaits, but spice it up with quifs and come-overs. it looks quite nice my favourite is where i have a flat quif and two bobbles holding it up at the top. i used to get picked on because of my hair [ and it does get frizzy] but i kinda got over it. they stopped aswell becasue i wasn't retaliating. love your hair, trim it DO NOT cut it to be like anyone else... you will regret it in the future. have it loose the day before you are going to deep condition it. Gel it down and the top and apply mousse on. hope this helped you. lots of love

Hi, I have ocd and all my life I wanted blonde hair. I thought men liked it better, I dye my hair black and it is naturally curly. I look washed out in the face with blonde hair. I continuously try to lighten my hair I payed over 300.00 for this service and went back to black. It could be my ocd. I had stripping done in a salon it looked like I had red highlights I did not like them for some reason. I bought 4 boxes of colour stripper from the drug store and my hair broke off. I love my hair long and it's just starting to get some length back. My hair before this happened was curly and almost to my bum. I regret doing this, I don't recommed anyone to strip there hair at home. I love my black hair and it took almost a year to grow in a little past my shoulders. Bleach is very hard on natural curly hair. So if I have talked someone not to strip there hair at home I have done my job. I am going to embrace what god has given me curly hair. I have blue eyes and dyed black hair my natual color is deep brown and I love my curly black hair, it took so long to reach my shoulders I will never do it again. I had my hair straighten once and it looked good except my bangs had no body, she didn't cut my bangs properly it look way to flat. So I will work with my curly hair I can't wait till it grows back really long, I miss my long hair does anyone have a suggestion how to get my waist length curly hair back. And does anyone know which products I can use on frizzy hair. From learned my lesson the hard way. Janie and does anyone know how to put highlights like mahogany, my favouite hilights are burgandy does anyone know what product I can give my hair burgundy highlights without stripping my hair. And would they show up in black hair. Love Janie

Ok I'm a girl but I LOVE curly hair. It always looks so pretty and nice, most of my friends have curly hair and they always look so nice with it, I on the other hand have stupidly straight hair and if I attempt to curl it or anything it just drops out straight away back to how straight it is. I think curly hair looks far more interesting and you have the option to straighten it every now and again and have 2 hairstyles.

People (ok not necessarily you) seem to be ashamed of curly hair, I have a friend with beautiful curly hair, I've known her 11ish years now and ONCE I've seen her with curly hair, she hates it. When people straighten their hair they straighten it too much (think the blonde one from Abba), it's better to have a bit shape/volume to it.

it's ok if you have curly hair it makes you look cute and non boring because of all the bounce and shiny curls. I have curly hair and it gets frizzy somtimes so what i do is shampoo and condition it when get in the shower and i try to do it everytime then to cancel out the frizz just add a little moose or a lot in your situation. sure your friends may say you look better with straight hair not saying you don't, but you could make it work for you if you follow these directions. trust me i know because i have curly hair and i use the moose to calm do my sometimes frizzy hair.

hlskitten agony auntcurlphobic men? thats probably the single most ridiculous thing ive ever read on here lol

Ive NEVER in my life heard of a bloke that HATES curly hair. My little bro likes girls with straight poshed up tidy hair, but he's dated curly haired girls too. Curlphobic guys must be real shallow! That article is making an issue where there just isn't one. About naturally curly hair? I'm still chuckling now. Its almost as bad as an article on fatphobics or face furniture phobics. Very insensitive and very unnessasary.

A female reader, hlskitten United Kingdom +, writes (8 September 2008):

hlskitten agony auntWelcome to my world! I used to hate my curly hair, like yours, it goes frizzy. Unfortunately naturally curly hair tends to be dry too. So any moisture in the air makes it frizzy. I use curl defining moouse, serum then diffuse dry it. Then you can put some moisture resistant hair spray on it.

Apart from that there isn't a lot you can do. I went through a time of straightnening it, even had it thinned out properly, but after a couple of months of having to straighten it sometimes twice a day if i was going out later, it turned to thick frizz! But straight. Not a good look. I couldn't put enough serum on it, was a nightmare! Now ive gone back to curly and wont be changing it again!

Curls have come in fashion now, when i was younger it was never in fashion.

LazyGuy agony auntGo to the local drugstore, look at the sections for men and for women. Men got a shelve, women got the store. One wall will be filled with hair dyes. A while industry dedicated to giving every woman on the planet a different color hair then she got.

Surely, a men would argue, at least ONE group of women would have the ideal color and not have to dye it, and all other women would simply dye it that color?

But no, red's go brunette, brunette's go blond, blonds go black and black go red. There are shades in between but as a men I will not acknowledge the existance of non-primary colors.

Same with curls or straight, women with curls pour chemicals over their head to straighten it and women with strait hair put red hot pokers on their head to curl it.

Insanity, thy name is woman!

Frizzy hair? I wouldn't worry about a man who thinks you hair is frizzy, your unlikely to pull a gay guy.

molly4 agony aunti have really curly hair too. you can just get pretty cheap leave in conditioner, like pantene pro-v intense moisture leave in conditioner is really good. Just vary your hairstyles and straighten it every so often, but just wear it natural most of the time, you dont want to damage it. besides, curls are cool! xoxo

A female reader, PsyCookie United States +, writes (8 September 2008):

PsyCookie agony auntOf course guys will like curly hair! As long as it is well maintained.

My hair is also naturally curly (not as curly as yours though!) and it's fairly long too (not as long as yours either!) and I use 3 products to keep my curls intact or at least frizz free.

First comes with the choice of shampoos. Make sure you buy shampoos that specify on the treatment for curly hair. On my personal taste, I have combined two products: the ones that give me extra hair strenght as shampoo (due that I have long hair) and the curly specified conditioner. You could always just choose the products to both be for curly hair.

Make sure you use a leave-in conditioner after you wash you hair. Try to look up for one that specifies on curly hair.

And in the end, use mousse that specifies on curly hair as well. When you apply it around your hair, make sure you scrunch it (pick a bunch of hair and tighten it) so it gives more definition to the curl.

Oh, as a side note, curly hair is never to be brushed or else you'll likely lose your curl and make it more likely to frizzy!

It all sounds like a hassle and waste of time but I assure you that you'll end up happy with the results because your hair will maintain the curls in a beautiful state. I didn't use to do this when I was younger and I tended to seek on straightening my hair instead but after I learned these tips I've tried to leave it natural more often.

And like lixelou said, straighten it once a while to have different hairstyles!

lexilou agony auntAll guys like different things. Try a product to ease the frizz after you have washed it to see if that helps but I would do what you are doing now, straighten it occasionally so you have a different look every now and then. Another alternative is chemical straightening but I dont know the cost or if it would damage you hair, and you might find you miss your curls!!

I have hair which has a natural wave towards the ends, its fairly long, to my bra hook at the back and I straighten it every day. On holiday I leave it wavy and for special occasions like weddings etc I have clip in real hair extensions that make it really really long which I then have curled using ghd's. Hubbie loves it but father in law hates it!!
