reader, anonymous, writes (18 February 2011): I think a lot of people are given you false information, smoking doesn't taste like death (that's a bit silly to say), and it doesn't turn off everyone. I've been a smoker for some years now and during such period of times, I dated and they never had a problem with it.
However, I wouldn't pick up the habit.
It's normal to like the smell, I know a lot of people that like that smell but don't smoke.

but a lot of my friends smoke, and its horrible watching them get grumpy because they 'need one'. its a waste of time and money, so id advise not to start.

 Ergh... I still can't put them down, not cos they taste good, but because my body craves them. I've had many a dream about smoking a cigarette- only to wake up at midnight BECAUSE of that craving... sad really.
It starts as bumming just one, then once a week, eventually you buy your own pack to stop mooching off friends, then its all downhill from there my friend.
Please don't even try them, you'll thank yourself later.

 If nothing else, think of the cost. I looked at the cigarette prices in the supermarket the other day - £5 for a packet!
I hear that many people smoke more than one packet per day, so say £10 per day - £3,650 per year!!!
And if, as a smoker, you live more than 10 years, over 36 grand!
Think what you could buy for that money......

 Tastes like death. Literally. And yes, I've done my fair share of smoking. Dude, if you are trying to turn off girls and make dating a LOT more difficult, pick up a smoking habit. Even as someone who smoked on and off, I would never date a smoker.
Maybe you have a bit of a fetish?

reader, anonymous, writes (2 February 2011): It tastes vile, in my opinion. I tried it for about a week when i was at school, didn't even enjoy it but just went along with what all the other kids were doing.
It tastes of burnt tar mixed with other crap, it makes your teeth yellow and skin age. Also, your clothes will reek of the stuff but you won't notice as a smoker.
If you are wanting to attract girls, most will be put off by the smell and don't even get me started on kissing a smoker. Most people don't want to feel like they're kissing an ash tray.
On the health side of things, there's lung cancer, throat cancer, well most types of cancer. In my opinion it really isn't worth the risk and to most people is not very attractive either.

 Well it is bad for you but tons of people do it anyway. I tried it and it tasted terrible. Then I couldn't get rid of the smell for hours anf trust me it is not what a girl wants to smell. Unless the girl smokes chances are she will be completely turned off from the smell.
Getting aroused by it may be a fetish but most likely it is the fact that it is something that isn't really available to you right now. Samething goes with drinking, then when you become the age to get it yourself it's not all that appealing. The problem with smoking is that by then you will be addicted to it and it will suck to quit.
The biggest point I can bring up that I think you will care is that girls will hate it and it will seriously limit who will date you. I wouldn't care if it's bad for me but if a girl turned me down for just that reason I would hate it.
