You could mean anything by these words. I would ask you to look deeply into what you mean by "need" and by "morally righteous." Once you have a specific answer for both, ask the question again. Best,

If you feel like you need something then one could argue that its not really a need, its a want. We need to breath, eat enough food to sustain ourselves, shelter from the elements and water etc.. So if you're talking about stealing a loaf of bread to survive then that's a need and to hell with whatever is the right thing to do. If you're talking about seducing someone else's wife because you feel you need her because shes the only one for you, completely different story. You're going to have to be more specific about the real issue if you want an objective opinion from people.

Yours is a very broad question and maybe if you could give some more details you'd get more precise answers.
Personally, I am a big fan of what I need versus what's the right thing to do. Life is short and we must try to get the most happiness out of it. BUT. within limits . It depends a lot from the circumstances and the issue at hand.
Let's say I need, I really need, 5000 USD today, and the only way I can get them so fast would be stealing them or robbing a bank. Then, obviously !, I would do the morally right thing ( not stealing ) versus what fulfills my needs ( stealing ). It really depends from what are we talking about...
