The reason i am asking because i don't want to get that far with a woman on pleasing her down there and then find out that the smell is horrible and i make a face and tick her off. i would like to know if a woman's vagina has a bad smell or if it even has a smell?

As a girl I'm very self-conscious about the way I smell all over, but mostly concerned with how fresh I smell down there. I wash every night (and quite often in the morning) to keep myself smelling as sweet as possible. I washed up specially before me and my BF went out and then came back to his place because well, a girl should expect the unexpected and sure enough he had his first experience performing oral and he loved it.
Even clean cootchies have a bit of a 'smell' but it should not smell fishy or gross. Just 'different' as my bf said, and 'awesome'.

 A clean vagina will have a slight musky smell, not necessarily flowery or perfumy, but should not smell "bad" either. Think about the smell of your sperm. Musky, earthy etc. Most men like the smell of a woman's vagina as long as she bathes regularly and is not carrying some kind of infection, which can make the area smell horrible. Most women are very self conscious about the way they smell "down there" and they tend to dislike their own scents. I would say, if you're not sure you should try fingering her first, and then descretly sniff your finger a few minutes later. That should give you some indication of what your mouth will be in for should you chose to do more. If it seems like she might need a shower, you don't have to go down on her at that time. Maybe shower together sometime, and use it as an opportunity to lather each other up, then you may feel better about using your tongue in that area afterwards. I think a freshly washed vagina is the best for oral sex. Scents build up, including sweat and other musky odors after a long day of work or play. It can be a turn off to anyone who's not used to how that smells. Freshly soaped always smells better. Good luck.

 Hmmm ... Scent of a Woman ....
My ex told used to go almost berserk and gooey and gushy and excited ... all at the same time ... whenever he caught a whiff of my "smell". He then forgot that it was either past his bedtime, or time to go to work.
He never did tell me what my womanly smell was like though. The closest to him being intelligibly understood (by me) when he was in that "state" was him muttering the word "intoxicating".

 I think it depends on the woman.If the woman takes care of herself and washes,then there is no problem.Guys love the taste and smell.But if the woman is a slob you can certainly expect that she would smell down there.So..if your girlfriend is a slob,you can start your foreplay in the shower.Goodluck.

The smell depends on the woman and whether it's bad or not depends on you (ok, both of you). Yes, it's possible that a woman smells horrible. If she's dirty and doesn't clean herself well, yeah, it'll smell bad.
For the most part, the smell is light yet distinct. Nothing bad. I can't get enough of going down on my woman. No matter which woman I've been with over my life time.

A few days before a womens period and a few days after and during the period the vagina pretty much has a strong ''fish smell'' that comes from her vagina and I would say yes it is a bad smell. All the other days of the month it does not really have a smell at all but as far as taste she will taste more salty if she has a bad diet example: chips, fast food, ect. and her cum will tatse more sweeter if she has lots of fruits and eats healtheir. but chances are she is not going to let you go down on her if she is on her period or just has got off of it so you should not have to worry about any odor.

reader, anonymous, writes (5 March 2009): sometimes before a woman getsa her period she will have an irony smell and or taste. douching with feminine products etc or wipes might get it smelling "meadow fresh", but if 1)she shaves her pubes, (that helps greatly to reduce odour, and 2)she WASHES her vaginal and anal area area with a bottle and a little soap, like childrens soap as its more mild,after she goes to use the toilet,and is religious about it,especially as things like toilet papr and yes, fecal crud, and urine crusties can build up between the folds, and especially before sex, she washes her self down there and after sex, u should not notice any odour whatsoever. i have never had any complaints. and i notice no odour from my genitals... ever.. but keep in mind some women do naturally have some kind of musky odour and it never goes away.
