i want to get a second ear piercing because i think they are cute and catchy. i just really like them and almost obsessed with them. it's just whenever i want to go and get a second piercing i always wonder if it would ruin my ear, as i've always only had one on each ear. if the piercing closes up will there be a really obvious scar?? should i get??

Honeypie agony auntIf your parents are OK with it I can't see why not. I have second piercing in each ear ( I have had them for a good 25 years) and never had any trouble with them.

I mention your parents because you are in the age bracket age 13-15 and whether you like it or not, they do have a say still.

Xx-Scorpio-xX agony auntDo it :) I got mine done when i was 11 and they didn't hurt at all~ the first ones hurt a lot though. I have thirds done (though one closed up), 4 cartlidge piercings, a rook piercing and a tragus piercing. Also my nose :P

As long as you go to a good place, then there's no harm in them, as long as your parents are ok with it as they'd have to go with you.

And personally i think that getting a piercing with a needle hurts a lot less than a gun; the needle is tiny and sharp which makes it a easier to go through, but a gun is dangerous and basically forces the blunt earring through the ear. I don't think i'd ever want to be pierced by a gun again (like they do in places like claire's accessories~ instead go to a piecing/tattoo studio) :)

A female reader, So_Very_Confused United States +, writes (14 November 2012):

So_Very_Confused agony auntI have 4 holes in each ear lobe and a cartilage piercing.

I only wear two earrings in each ear... my second holes have screw back studs that I only remove for surgical events where I can't wear metal, otherwise i forget I have it in. It just got to be a pain to have that much in terms of what was BEHIND my ear (the backs of the earrings) with all that back there, the skin could not breathe well... and also it was uncomfortable for sleeping or using the phone.

so I've let 4 holes close up... you can't even see them now... so that's not an issue unless you get keloids...

Second/third/fourth holes HURT more to get...

and then the area behind your ear can get "gunky" more easily...

I love second holes and if mom and dad are ok with you doing it then I say why not...

Haha Claudia Kishi! Thems we're the days!

OP I got my second piercings done when I was about 14 and I kept them in for about 4 years. I took them out because I wanted a change and pretty much forgot they were there after a while. I've just had a look now and unless you look very closely you can't see them at all. So I'd say go for it, then if you ever get fed up of them you can take them out and they'll close up and near enough disappear eventually :) Good luck!

TasteofIndia agony auntNahhh, you won't get any bad scarring or anything - unless you take bad care of your ears and let them get a nasty infection or something. But as long as you take care of your piercings, you'll be fine! Clean them everyday and don't change them for several months. I know they say 6 weeks, but I find that that's still a little early. Give them PLENTY of time to heal completely, and make sure to keep them nice and clean. I used very basic liquid soap with aloe, and it works like a charm! I've never had a problem. And into the future, the second your ear feels icky - back to the liquid soap with aloe, and you'll be fine.

I have 3 in each ear and a cartilage piercing. I love them all. If you had read The Babysitter's Club and knew who Claudia Kishi was, you would really understand where my passion for earrings stemmed from. :) Ahh, memories.

I've had my ears double pierced for 25 years. I hardly ever wear earrings but it never closes up. I have no problem with them but I only wear earrings maybe 10 times a year. There is no scar just a small hole exactly like the other one. If u like it do it. It's not a big deal just make sure whoever does it is licensed. Don't let just anyone do it.

Dangerously Enthusiastic. agony auntI have my second and third done.

I love them. I think it gives it a better look.

However I wouldn't go past three as I think in my personal opinion, I would look like a tramp.

Go for it. You can always let it close up.

However, I got my first hole in my ear done with a gun but they are banned now so needels are used...they hurt.

Good luck!
