I have no idea what I should bring with me as a gift. Specially since it is a lunch and because i don't know them that well at all! What about a bottle of wine? Is it suitable for a lunch? I know it will suit a dinner. Please send us as many suggestions as early as possible since its tomorrow. And please don't suggest 'personal' gifts since we don't know them that well. Thanks! Dessert wine, and I like the idea of the cake as well. You don't need to go mad.

I think something like flowers or chocolates are more appropriate than wine for lunch, maybe even chocolate liquors? :)

If you're in the northern hemisphere, a quality bottle of red will do nicely. You don't have to drink it, as it is a gift the host can consume it at his leisure.
Did your husband say you needed to bring a gift? It's just lunch after all. I would personally take something to eat and share ie: a bowl of fresh cherries, or a yummy potato salad.
Alternatively, you can simply invite them over to your place for lunch instead of giving gifts back and forth :)

I think wine is OK too. The brand I like is Barefoot. Its on the lower end for price but a surprisingly good quality.
Because it is lunch I would go for a white. Their Zinfandel is good but if you can find their Moscato it really is a fun wine especially for the skiddish wine drinkers. It is quite fruity yet not syrupy sweet like some Rieslings.
Think of bringing something to pair the wine with too. For a red, some really good cheese is nice like fontina or gouda. For the white try a hors dourves plate with fruits in it.
I would be interested to know how it works out for you. PM me if you can, I am always trying to learn too!

I don't think wine is so great for a lunch engagement...Maybe a fruit basket.

I think a bottle of wine is okay to bring; you could try bringing something that isn't expected, like a dessert wine such as a Tokaji or a port.
Artisanal chocolates. Get a really fine bottle of olive oil and an aged balsamic vinegar.
An orchid, the phalaenopsis (moth orchid) is a very forgiving species and will rebloom year after year with very little effort if kept in the right place and is watered properly (once a week, at most). Put one of those is a beautiful cache pot and that's very elegant.
This time of year, some higher end grocery stores are selling rosemary tree topiary (for culinary use) and bay leaf trees.
Have fun!
