Invite him por a 'thank you' drink when you've had your last lesson. If he says no you'll know he's not interested, and if he says yes you'll be able to ask him about himself and find out whether he's married/involved etc. If he's single and interested he'll ask to see you again, and if he's single but not interested he wont. Simple as that. Good luck :)

Dear Student Driver,
At 42, it's really kind of goofy to have a major crush; let's just say you're attracted to him like a mature woman would. So as a mature woman, there's no harm in ending your classes and then casually asking him if he'd like to go out for a drink sometime, or a cup of coffee. Very innocent question.
His answer will tell you whether you're about to make a fool of yourself by saying too much, (or drive him away by saying too much) and it will give you an idea about how he feels about you.
So go drink coffee and let the next step unfold naturally.
But the first step is NOT to confess your undying love; you don't know this already????

Find out whether he's married or not or whether he's in a relationship (if you haven't already) If he's not, ask him out for a drink/meal/coffee/delete as appropriate to celebrate once you've passed your test. The worst he can say is a simple no.

What do you really know about this guy? Does he have a wife and kids he goes home to after driving school is over for the day?

I agree that this is like a school girl crush. It's not uncommon to have a crush on your driving instructor and chances are if you got to know him outside of his profession you may not feel the same way at all. That said, you're 42 so if you want to tell him how you feel once your lessons with him are over, go ahead! Good luck x

This is the same thing as a teenage girl fancying her teacher. Your his student and that's all. You've even said he doesn't feel the same way. It's just a crush, and once you've passed your test, you'd be better off moving on and finding someone else. There are other good guys out there. Remember, you've only seen this guy as a proffessional, not as a normal guy. There are differences. Find another guy. lots of luck.
