A female reader, Pork Hock Canada +, writes (26 April 2007):

You are sick with worry I am sure. The bleeding you had the first time after the unprotected sex was sometimes what you get after sex, it is penetrational bleeding. It was not your period if you were able to have sex the day after (presuming you weren't bleeding the second time).

I can't say for sure you aren't pregnant as I am not sure what the first day of your last period. If you are regular you will have an idea when you are due on...you will know your cycle, you may get breakthrough bleeding off and on throughout the month if your like me, which is irregular BUT you need to A) go and see your GP immediately and ask for a pregnancy test (I know it is free in the UK where as a test from the chemist will cost you). B) while at your visit with your doctor, then ask to be put on the pill or ask to be fitted with a coil. Tell her what your periods are like, heavy, regular, irregular and get on some birth control. You cannot go through this worry every single month. Take control of yourself, you will feel so less stressed knowing you are responsible for who you are. Remember though that you will need to use protection within the first month of the pill. It does take a while to kick in...however there are other options that are more instantaneous but I am not sure it is available in the UK. It is an injection you have every 3 months but again you need to be diligent about knowing your own body. Go and book an appointment for your GP ASAP!

smeedle agony auntOh you poor girl, you must be worried sick and I bet you are not eating or sleeping.

I cannot reasure you and tell you that you are definatly not pregnant only a test from chemist or GP will tell you this.

Do you have the money for a pregnancy test, they are simple to do and tell you almost instantly and are pretty accurate.

My guess is that it is worry that is making you sick, and the only way to stop the worry is to get tested.

If you find you are not pregnant you need to have a think about this scare and realise lessons need to be learnt, as you have found out having un-protected sex is not good and should be avoided at all costs, if you have no precautions then you must say no.

Good luck and I really hope that the outcome is that you are not pregnant and that the sickness is just stress.
