I'm doing this question for her because she's computer illiterate (bless her). She has recently been diagnosed with Psoriasis and wants to know how other people cope with it. Hers is a severe case and i know she finds it hard getting about the house and cleaning. She just wants to know if anybody has any advice or tips on how to treat it, shes currently on medication and has tons of creams to put on every day. I'd appreciate it if you could answer, i know this isn't a medical site but she just wants to know a few tips on how to manage it. Thank you :) x Reply to this Question Share |

There are many treatment methods available, but she should stick with what works for her. If the prescriptions don't seem to work, she can ask her doctor for something else. There are different creams and lotions available for example, some are prescription based, contain steroids or tar, and many others are alternative creams.Other forms of treatment include exposure to uv-light, salt/mineral baths (a trip to the dead sea is probably better, but expensive), and more. The thing with psoriasis is that it's just not clear what works and what doesn't. The response to these treatments is individual and that's why some p sufferers are totally frustrated and others seem to manage their disease quite well. What Plexi said is also very important, she should also stick to a healthy diet.If you wish for a personal note, I've been trying different things - and now using PsoEasy cream which seems to be the best for me yet.You can browse the different psoriasis communities on the web, share your story and get more advice!I hope your mum feels well

hey there,i suffered from severe eczema for about four years (still have some but not nearly as bad!) Medically, there will be heaps of different ideas (i found for eczema there were lots of different forums online that were great -but if she's no good with computers, maybe there are actual support groups?), but more importantly for me was how i felt in myself. the fact that i had lots of friends that were understanding of my skin and how i felt made all the difference. when i was feeling worst, so was my eczema. they went hand in hand. so i would suggest to the best of your abilities trying to make sure she has that support group around her. i would also highly suggest UV treatment (if her dermatologist recommends) as that really nipped my eczema in the bud. i really understand this must be a really tough time so i wish you guys the best of luck!mervy.

Psoriasis can be symptomatic of fat/protein malabsorpion and /or poor digestion. Digestion normally slows with age and if we do not digest properly then we don't absorb nutrients no matter how perfect is our diet. She should avoid eating when angry or on the go, avoid eating/drinking cold foods or drinks as they shock the stomach. Supplementing with digestive enzymes that also contain HCL should help. Don't forget to include good fats in your diet of course( found in cold water fish such as salmon, cod, sardines, markrel, olives and olive oil, fax seeds, avocados.
She may also want to avoid excess sugar, trans fats and food additives and chemicals in general.
Hope this helps your mom a bit hun

A certain amount of sunlight will help, not too much though because that could worsen it. I also heard that a spa in Turkey specializes in treating psoriasis with the help of Garra Rufa fish that suck on the affected areas of the flesh though, I wouldn't be too quick to go there, it doesn't sound like it would cure anything really though I have heard that such treatments do help exfoliate the skin, I've never heard of it doing much more than that.
Be sure to put a lot of moisturizer on each day after you apply the medical creams, that might help. That's all I can really suggest, sorry if it wasn't what you were looking for.
I hope that helps.
