As a 70 year old male, I was wondering about this myself. I sometimes masturbate for long lengths of time - when I get the chance - and so far with non-stop times varying between 1.5 and 3.5 hours without any adverse short term or long term effects, though being gentle and using baby oil prevents getting sore. Even then after continuingly edging, I often deliberately end without climax, to build anticipation for next time. Far more fun than a quick rub, as far as I am concerned.

The ability to "hold it in" surely increases the fun of masturbating. Engaging in masturbating for long hours enables you to perfect that ability. Generally speaking, the longer you hold it in the more wonderful it feels when you finally let it go. Doing this will prepare you not to cum too quickly when you make love.
