I am slightly smaller than you and I am about 8 and a half stone, I'm not really skinny and I have curves but I wouldn't say I'm large. So yes I'd say you probably are a little underweight, but not ridiculously, I don't think it sounds like a huge concern.

k_c100 agony auntYou are underweight, at unless you are under 5ft you shouldnt be under 7 stone to be honest.

But saying that, you are still young and chances are your body is still developing and growing so there is nothing to be worried about for now. As long as you are eating well (i.e. having 3 meals a day, eating a good mix of fruit, veg, meat, fats and carbs) and not on any silly diets or skipping meals then you will be fine.

If you get to 18 and still havent put any weight on, and you are trying to gain weight but still cant - then see a doctor.

I hope this helps and good luck!

A female reader, CindyCares Italy +, writes (20 December 2011):

CindyCares agony aunt Yes, you are underweight. Your BMI is around 17 and it should not be less than 18.5. You may not look unhealthy, and feel perfectly fine, but you are not at an healthy weight, at least by medical guidelines. You should consult a nutritionist.

you have a bmi of 16. normally anything under 18 is classes as underweight however because of your age it is classed as a healthy weight according to the nhs website
