I went on Microgenol and after almost 2 years I've put on about half a stone (which I do not put down to the pill at all). So long as you eat sensibly then you should have no worries. When I first went to the Nurse for the pill she gave me leaflets about all the different variations of birth control (I would recommend reading some), she did tell me the pill can cause a weight increase in certain people (I think she basically said so long as your not obese now then you shouldn't have a problem with it).

It totally depends on the person and what pill it is. However it will only ever me a couple of lbs at the most and you'd definitly gain more weight if you were pregnant! Talk to your family planning clinic and they can advise you on whats right for you.

if you eat sensibly you won't put on weight. Think of the weight of your body as a bank account. Ignore the fact you go for a crap once in a while.
When you eat you make a deposit. When you exercise you take the cash out again. Keep the two in equilibrium and your weight will remain the same.

Going on the pill has its advantages and disadvantages. Birth control pills are all hormones and everyone's body's react differently. In some yes, putting on weight is a side effect, but for others it's not. When I was on the pill, I did not have any weight issues, but my sex drive decreased dramatically and was almost non existent. Talk to your doctor and let him/her know your concerns. There are so many different types of birth control pills, and your doctor can give you a lesser dose pill for the first few months and then you can always switch pills if you are not happy with any effects you are experiencing. Hope this helps alittle.

I do know one thing: you'll definitely gain weight if you get pregnant - and that's weight you won't be able to get rid of for at least a good 20 years or so...
