Would you finally own up, even though you know people would be shocked and your reputation would be in tatters? Thanks in advance Reply to this Question Share |

There are such things as white lies.
I know this much, you cannot learn from your mistakes unless you learn to deal with consequences.

Yes, if you made a mistake and you realize you made it, you should own up to it. That's what being a good person is all about. Everyone makes mistakes, but another part of being a good person is being able to brush aside all your personal issues with caring about what other ppl. think and do the right thing. If the ppl. whom you care so much about their thoughts and opinions are your true friends, then it won't matter, they will respect you more for being the bigger person and admitting your faults... if they don't, then you don't need them.

The solution is easy and an admirable behavior...Just be honest. COME CLEAN. Okay? And that will certainly strengthen trust that it came from you firsthand.
No stop dragging your feet and tell the truth to whomever.

Why would people be shocked and your reputation in tatters if it was a GENUINE mistake? I think "mistake" and I think of someone simply tripping over when walking. If it was a genuine split second mistake then your conscience shouldn't be preying on you because you know you haven't done anything wrong... but that's just me.

It really does depend on what you did. It also depends why you'd want to own up. If you're wanting to own up because you want to rid yourself of the guilt, than that's wrong. If you want to own up because you really want to be honest and set things right, then own up.
You need to decide whether you're wanting to tell the truth because you want to rid yourself of the guilt, or whether you want to actually set things right.
