And i don't mean in the local forum etc, i mean big time.May seem like i am being silly, but i do have a good voice [now im frightened that people are going to think that i am being big headed] and would like to do something with it...The problem is that i have a major confidence issue, and i have never sang infront of anyone before [people have heard me sing little bits if i am singing to myself around the house, and they say i have a good voice].I would just like to know if anyone has any ideas on how i can get more confident... any advice would be greatly appreciated... thanks everyone!xxx

Hey!
I had the exact same issue, just keep singing, keep your confidence up, take insults on board and work on them, take compliments on board and be thankful :)
Don't give up just because you may not feel your as good as people are telling you, you'll be dissappointing a lot of people!
I have a myspace account which instantly boosted my confidence because of the responses I was getting, maybe you should get one? It's good for publicity and letting people know where you are, what gigs you're doing etc.
If you decide to do that, my myspace URL is on my column so check it out and add me?
I'd like to hear you now :)
Good luck with things and don't give in!

I'm also a 'singer' and a great confidence boost from singing lessons with my best friend. There wesang together and listened to eachother sing, we also did activities that involved us telling eachother how we could improve. Singing lessons help SO much, with confidence and ability. Another boost i got was when i sung at a small concert for school. it was just onfront of a few other students and parents and it was great. My confidence has gone way up since that. I even joined my local church music team and sung for them for a year infront of a small church group. I think the most difficult people to perform in front of are ou friends, so maybe start with people you dont know.

"What would you attempt to do if you could not fail?"
When I was your age, I wanted to go to the Air Force Academy and become an Astronaut but I also doubted myself. That was 1990. Just a few months ago, I lost my job doing something that I particular didn't care for. I was paid very well but I do regret not going to the Academy and doing what I loved.
If you have the pipes to sing, I say sing!
When you are famous as a big time singer, there will be a countless number of people that will try to knock you off your perch. But you can't reach that perch though if the hand that keeps you down is your own.
Don't worry about what others will think of you now. What matters is what you will think of yourself later if you don't try at all.
