writes:I think I was date-raped. I ran in to my boss in a bar after I had already been drinking, and he offered to get me a drink. I asked for a vodka orange, but he asked me if I would prefer vodka redbull, and got me that instead. After that drink, I completely blacked out and can't remember a thing from then until waking up in his bed. I had not been drinking very much before that vodka red bull. What is date rape, and how many ways can it be perpetrated?

 To the poster,
Please heed the advice of the majority of posters and get yourself to a doctors as soon as possible.
I would ask in the interests of fairness:
a. are you taking any other medications that may have acted with the alcohol?
b. had you eaten recently prior to your drinks?
a and b can cause the effects of alcohol to be amplified.
c. do you feel that you had engaged in any sexual activities prior to waking in his bed? (if so go to the police and report it).

 personally,id totally ignore that comment below cos that to me just sounds like someone whos bitter towards men,valium or ro-hypnol will usually be used and it sounds to me like something like that has happened here,what did he say the next day? does he say anything to u now?these are questions u need to know,unfortunately these cases are becoming more frequent as it very difficult to prove these cases,i dont know about this changing te drniks unless it was to hinder the taste of it or something,i dont know,but the best thing i can suggest is turn detective yourself cos there little the police can do without solid evidence x

Rape is caused by three factors ,the rapist, the place and the opportunity.
Don’t go to where you are not familiar with.
Listen to your own conscience about safety and fear.
Never trust any man because sometimes they can become weak
and succumbed to their base senses.
Even in extreme cases, even relatives especially the man.
Don’t be too trusting of any man.
Try not to give any man any opportunities .
You maybe playful only, but some men may take it that u are asking them to come on…
Your body language maybe giving the come on hither signals to the man .
So beware .

 Time frames are important here - my understanding is that any "physical evidence" of sexual assault is gone after 72 hours (assuming you didn't shower). I am not sure whether a tox screen of your blood would show anything up after this period. I think you should contact your local hospital and find out if there is still time for a rape kit/tests. Perhaps ask to speak with a social worker - or someone with whom you can talk through what has happened and who can offer counselling or contact with appropriate support services. I am not sure what you can do legally about this in Canada - you need to find out what your options are and think about whether you want to persue them.
You probably should see a Dr regardless - re. unwanted pregnancy/STD's etc.
My advice is to talk with someone about all this - there are multiple issues here and you shouldn't have to go through this on your own.

Also consider going to your company's Human Resources department. In most companies, supervisors are not allowed to have relations with their employees. Your boss could and should be terminated because of this.
You should immediately get in contact with rape or crisis services in your area to find out steps you should take. It might not be too late to go to a doctor and get evidence that might be useful in a prosecution. Even if there's not enough evidence to prosecute, there might be enough to have him fired, at the very least.

reader, anonymous, writes (12 May 2008): Go to the hospital now! Do not wait, if he used the date rape drug you will not remember anything. At least not right away. Not only that you have STD's to worrie about. Do not let this monster get away with this. Go and get tested at the hospital.. they will do a kit and run all the tests that are necessary. The last thing you want to worrie about is being pregnant. If you need more information you can right me back on here I will check in often. Good Luck.

 The first thing to do is notify the authorities. This is important to prevent such action from happeing to another.
Date rape happens in many different forms. The form your talking about is the possability of someone slipping a sleeping medication into your drink. There are other medications as well that cause black outs etc. The pervert then takes you out of the bar as having just way too much to drink. To others it seems as if he's just being a real helpful person. Then what happens next, you all ready know.
