I have what seems like white skin all around the vaginal opening, is it because I've used soap and shaving gel to clean my inside? Sex is uncomfortable and I'm panicking!

This is going to be long so ill apologize in advance!

Im really embaressed about this, and im sorry but im going to have to tell you everything to get the answer as im going on holiday tomoro and im panicking!

Ive been with my boyfriend for 9 months and weve been having sex for 4 of those months. We were both virgins before we had sex together and we always use condoms!

Two weeks ago me and my boyfriend were having sex, he came in the condom and when he pulled out, there was nothing in the condom! as you can imagine my heart sunk, when we checked it, it had a little hole in the top. So the next day i took the morning after pill ( i took it after eleven hours so well under the 24!)

and everything has just gone wrong since then.

First of all my mate gave me and my boyfriend some condoms as she didnt need them, and i had been saying that the pasante brand ones we use were a bit tight on my boyfriend, so she gave us 8 of them.

We had sex last friday, saturday and then i had my period on sunday.. first problem.. i wasnt due on for another 9 days and i had only taken the pill 4 days before that so there i am all worried again when i find out its a side effect of the pill and its perfectly normal and it could of been my period just coming early too. i was on sunday-wednesday and i only use tampons and i had sex on those days with the new condoms.

Me and my boyfriend have had sex everyday since last thursday and weve been having rough sex, i like it when my boyfriend touches the back of me and goes in deep and hard, so thats what weve been consentrating on.

And ive been using shampoo and soaps on my vagina as my boyfriend always wants to perform oral sex on me before sex and im worried he wont like the taste, smell so ive been washing before he comes over. I also shaved all my pubes off on friday with shaving foam and i did get it on the sensitive parts in side the vagina lips.

Now a day later i have white (what looks like skin) all around the hole of my vagina and the top of it.

Theres nothing on the lips or my clit, just the bottom and when we had sex yesterday it was really uncomfortable, so we decided to stop and when we looked there was white flakey bits of skin all over the condom.

Its not that painful its more uncomfortable, so what do you think it is?!

I told you everything up there because im wondering if it could be caused by any of those(i wasnt just telling you my life story for no reason!)... The new condoms could i be allergic? The fact that ive had sex for 9 days running and ive been using tampons aswell could i have over done it? Could it be because ive got soap or shaving gel inside my and now ive had an allergic reaction to that? or could it be because weve been having rough sex and made me sore?

Please help im panicking! Thank you so much xx

I know this is late, but Im going to throw in my two cents...

Ok everyone who thinks they know what this girl is talking about. She does not have an STD, Thrush or a yeast infection. Did she say anything about bad itching, or discharge, or smells, or skin tags? You all just put words in her mought.

All she said was white around the vaginal opening. Which to me would sound like just dryness in response to all the crap she slathered her vagina with to wash it. With that there could be some slight itching.

pebble agony auntYou can catch genital warts from oral sex too, so you need to look into that. As it sounds similar to some of the symptoms.

Also, it's very very not good to use soaps around the vaginal area. If you've been doing it for a while then I'm really suprised that it's just starting to effect you now. You'll need to see a doctor when you get back. DON'T use any more soaps around there for now.

Most likely you've developed an infection and will need a course of anti biotics to clear it up.

Good luck.

This is really awkward for me to just come out in the open so here it goes. My husband and i have been kind of on a rough patch. I havnt slept with him in like a month in a half maybe more. I just recently noticed that the day after we had sex my vagina hurt. It hurts to wipe and then i looked at it in the morning and it was inflamed and has white stuff on the inner vagina but not far in. I do use shaving cream and soap down there. I have no idea what this can be. Please help. And what is thrush?

A female reader, epifanatical Australia +, writes (12 October 2008):

epifanatical agony auntoooops, it sounds like you have upset the delicate balance of the vagina and have developed some kind of yeast infection like thrush. This is a very common problem with women who:

wear non-cotton undies

tight undies

use soaps to clean

antibiotics that you may take

condoms lubricated with nonoxynol-9, a spermicide, have also been linked to yeast type infections

a diet high in yeast type foods (like overly starchy white breads)

a weak immune system.

Its nothing to worry about, a visit to your doctor for a some thrush tablets combined with thrush cream usually does the trick. If you want to try a natural remedy, there are women that swear by plain non flavored or sugared yogurt. Just insert a tablespoonful into your vagina regulary to restore the good bacteria. Whichever you choose it should be gone within a few days. Best of luck sweetee !! Cheers!!

White skin tags around the genitals usually turn out to be genital warts, why hasn't anyone metioned this yet?

You don't have to have had unprotected sex to get them - get checked out to be safe.

A reader, anonymous, writes (12 October 2008):

Do not worry, it is nothing that cannot be treated and cured. The pieces of white skin that you noticed may in fact be a discharge of mycotic origin, in which case you should have a sample of your internal secretions analysed without delay, the soap and shaving gels have disturbed your vaginal flora balance which needs to be treated accordingly, with ovules or antibiotics, see what your doctor says. The sooner, the better. You may need to interrupt sexual contact during the treatment and your partner may also need to follow it. Ask your doctor how to prevent this problem from reoccurring once you are cured. He will suggest you a natural, safe product for intimate care to protect the vaginal flora which will help to prevent infection, a product free of soap that you can apply as often as you need its comfort. Such products give a sense of refreshing; this will increase your confidence. Generally a shower prior to oral experiments is sufficient though for your self confidence and you should stop worrying about the smell as this is seemingly what lead to you stressing the area with unwanted harsh substances. All the best and no worries as this is perfectly treatable, just make that appointment!

A female reader, starfairy United Kingdom +, writes (12 October 2008):

starfairy agony auntIt's really sensitive down below and too much washing with harsh soaps and definately shaving gel can upset it...If you're going to be washing frequently down below, I would recommend buying a sensitive soap specifically designed for down below.

Hard sex could be upsetting you down below, as could the new condoms...Perhaps do a little experimenting, try different condoms, and have gentle sex for a few days, see if anything changes. If not, I would really recommend getting to the doc.

I'm not sure if you're worried about having to take the morning after pill...But maybe you should do a pregnancy test just to put your mind at ease with everything else that's going on. You can pick them up from Tesco for £3.96 ;o)
