I'm restricting my food again because I lost a lot of weight when I did this last summer and fall. Unfortunately, I gained most of it back during the winter. During Spring Break I'll run for an hour a day at minimum. How much weight can I lose?

Don't restrict your food. My friends got me to go on a program called WeightWatchers, and it allows you to eat anything you want. I had a lot of fast food the first week, and still lost 5 pounds. Here's the website: http://www.weightwatchers.com/

If you want to shed a few pounds before easter, just eat healthily 3 times a day & try & eat dinner before 6pm. Also drink a large bottle of water each day (1-1.5 litres) and in addition do 40 minutes exercise (the type that gets you sweating without going madly OTT - sort of 'moderate' level - you could try jogging moderate to brisk alternating but don't flog yourself) or even very brisk walking, or if you are a member of a gym, the spin class can be good.
I lost half a quarter of a stone a week last summer by having bran flakes with skimmed milk for breakfast along with a piece of fruit, then my main meal at lunch (which included jacket potato or pasta, salad, fish etc & fruit for pudding!) then a light low carb meal (grilled chicken & salad with tiny bit of pasta) about 5.30pm followed by an evening walk, jog or cycle and then just water or fruit when I got back. You need to work out your basal metabolic rate (just do a google search for basal metabolic rate calculator) to see how many calories your body will burn each day just by functioning ie breathing, organ use, normal movement (you just enter your weight & height and it works it out for you very quickly) and if you eat this number of calories you will maintain your current weight so if you want to lose some, you could drop it by a certain number of calories plus do the exercise BUT DO NOTE that you need to consume 75% or more of the calorie allowance from your basal metabolic rate in order for your muscles, organs and skin etc to get what they need to function properly.
Crash dieting is not the answer at all as it damages you. It is more a question of planning your eating, being aware of fats and carbs in food, cutting out sweets & crisps etc (but allowing yourself a little treat each week too) and exercising and getting into a routine. Also, I read that you must have breakfast within 2 hours of waking otherwise your body will sense you are starving and store the fat. Another thing i read is that 8 hours after you get up is a good time to do some exercise as your metabolism can slow down about 8 hours after waking. I hope this is helpful. You are clearly, from your weight, a healthy and safe BMI and not fat at all. At your age, a lot of girls worry about 'body image' - my own daughter is 16 and 5 ft 5 & just under 10 stone and she looks slim, fit and fabulous with curves in the right places but she hates her curves and wants to be 'skinny' - my older daughter went through this (she is 20 now) and grew out of it by the time she was bout 18 or so.
If you are going to run for an hour a day you will lose a lot of weight so long as the running is moderate at times because if you go OTT you could end up adding muscle weight and getting your heart rate up so high that it stops burning fat and becomes all cardio & builds the muscle. You should always check with your GP before embarking on a strict diet and daily exercise regime just so that he/she can check your BP and general health and give you sensible advice. Be careful also that you don't suddenly start pounding the pavements so hard that you strain your knees. Take it easy, eat sensible, exercise sensible & you will be fine and have a fit, trim, firm healthy body. You are not fat. Take care xx

I know I can't stop you from doing this, but please don't restrict your food too much, and take plenty of water with you when you run. You don't want to collapse when you are running. If you want to figure out how much weight you can loose, look up the running thing on google. I'm sure you'll find the number of calories lost for an hour. You must be fit if you can run for an hour.

5'5'' and 116lbs. I'm 5'6... there was a time when I was 116lbs and I looked SLAMMIN'. Now I'm 125 and I'm still feeling pretty foxy. Girl, I know that you're looking good and that tons of girls everywhere are dieting to try and look like YOU!
Don't hate on yourself. Instead of wasting all this time and energy to lose weight, spend that time and energy on lovin' yourself and your friends and family. It's Spring time, go outside and enjoy life! 116lbs is a relatively healthy weight, please STICK WITH IT and don't lose anymore. Then you'll start to look like a twig and that's not sexy!! Love your curves, baby.
Enjoy your body, don't hate on it, sweetness!

I'm 5'3 and I'm 130lbs. I'm happy and healthy and feel good in myself! My best friend was always trying to be thin and skinny! She used to be fun to be around but then she turned into this snappy, moody, bad tempered girl, who wasn't happy in her life!! Thin/skinny people are never happy as they are worrying too much about staying thin, what they eat/drink, wear etc.
Listen to what the other posters are saying, drink water, eat fruit, cut out fizzy drinks, crisps, chocolate BUT do eat healthy well balanced meals. Exercise but do it at a normal pace.
Good luck x

Honey, you are not fat! At your height and weight, you are a perfect size:) You said you like to run. If you run 30 minutes a day, 3 days a week, you will have nothing to worry about. If you want to tone up lift weights. This will increase your metabolism and burn "fat" quicker.
Good luck, sweety

I was 5'7" and 119 lbs. at your age. My knees stuck out like a colt and you could practically play the piano on my rib cage. My shoulder blades stuck out like wings. I was underweight. At 5'5" and 116, you are far from fat, dear. I think that you are obsessing a bit about your body weight.
Trust me, all of us women look back at our bodies when we were your age and wonder why we didn't appreciate how great our young bodies were, we just looked in the mirror and CHOSE to see all the flaws instead. Trust me, we all do it! Why? I don't know! And guys do the exact opposite, they look into the mirror and admire themselves, skinny, fat, short or tall! Stop embracing the negative thoughts that you are having about your figure and get involved with all of the things that you love in your life instead, sports, movies, friends, outings!!! You are actually on the thin side and are lucky that you can probably stand to gain a few pounds at Easter.

Honey I do agree with the others here - you are not fat from the amount you say that you weigh. And running a minimum of one hour a day on a restricted diet is dangerous. If you are doing that much cardio exercise you need a high carbohydrate diet to sustain your body muscle. If you eat to little and excercise too much your body will break down your body muscle to use as fuel, and you will become very ill.
It does sound as if you are on the borderline of an eating disorder. Please stop before things spiral out of control and you are unable to help yourself anymore. Talk to your Dr or your mum and get some support, and facts about your weight and diet and what you will be doing to your body if you don't eat properly.
Take care of yourself.

If you don't believe me, 'Google' Body Mass Index and take it from there.
If you mess about like this you'll end up anorexic if you're not careful, and that can kill if it gets right out of control. Do you really want to kill yourself?
