How many times have you fallen in love?

A question to everyone...

How many times have you fallen in love? I mean completely fallen in love - physically, emotionally, and mentally...?

My reasons for asking: I have experienced this twice in my lifetime. The first time wasn't until the age of 27, and the second time aged 32.

Now, at the age of 33, I feel quite lucky, as I never felt I would really fall in love (and they fall in love with me). I just thought that finding someone whom I could consider the love of my life to be especially rare. So, the fact I have felt this twice in my life makes me believe that I have been lucky...I'm just wondering if I could feel this strong for someone again? I'm sure I can love again (and have / am currently...), but am doubtful whether I will feel that totally all-over-consuming love again. I do know that some people go through a lifetime without ever having that crazy heady loved-up love.

Anyway, that's my reason to ask you all...how many times have you experienced falling 100% in love (requited love), and at what age are you?

Might be an odd question, but you really will help me in my thoughts/decisions.

Thanks All.

I Have been in love once, and im still in love with the same person, it was love at first sight!

i still get the whole butterflys in the tummy when i see him and i would do anything for him!!

I Dont think i can ever feel that way about anybody else and i ruin every relationship i get into because i compare them all to him!!

I Still see him often as he lives around the corner and we have very "casual" sex!

We Were together for about a year when we were 13, i still love him now and im 20, we have been on and off in this time but now we are completely not together and it really kills me!

There is hope for you but i know in myself i will never ever love/ be in love with anybody but him! :(

Sad as it is, i dont care because i know he's the one for me!!!

Toria agony auntYou may experiance it again or this love you are feeling now may turn into a love that although different could turn out to be stronger and better just in a different way.

I think we are all lucky to feel and experiance love, when it is bad we hate feeling it but still can't get enough of it, when good we crave it and know that it is and always will be the best feeling we will ever experiance :o)

Hi Everyone,

Im the original poster of this question - thanks for all your answers..

Really made me think.

Whilst I am with someone now, and I do feel love for him (and he adores me), I just know it's nowhere as intense as the "falling in love" feeling that I'd felt only twice in my lifetime (as described in my original question).

But, judging by your answers, I guess I'm still relatively lucky. That kind of love is extremely rare. I doubt I will ever feel that passionately about anyone again (as i did with 2 of my exes).

So, I guess it's time for me to "grow up" and start appreciating this different, gentler kind of love that I have with my current boyfriend....

Thanks again - feel free to provide more feedback.

lostgirl04 agony auntI've only loved one person in my life. I'm still in my twenties but I hope that I never have to love anyone else who is not him. I can't see myself with anyone else. =)

I have been in love once, at the age of 27. I am still in love with the same person now, although he has gone from my life. I knew within 2 dates with this person that he was going to mean a lot to me. I meet other people, but just dont get that feeling with them, and worry that I will only ever have this one chance, which didnt work out. I do hope that there is someone out there though who it will happen with again. I feel so lucky to have met this first guy becuase it made me realise I am capable of loving, but love also hurts so much I am scared to let my heart go again.

Celeste agony auntI've been in love just once. With the guy I'm with now.. I was with a boy fora bout a year and a half before I met my current beau, and I didn't feel half the emotion for him in that entire time that I feel now..

But don't worry, you will find that again.. It seems that your a very passionate person, and u really allow yourself to feel that way when you meet someone that you feel a deep connection with.. You have nothing to worry about!!

I don't know exactly how to answer this. I have had a lot of love and falling in love, so many lovers and and four serious relationships. But the love you describe seems so big. I thought I had fallen in lve many times but now that you mention it, I think maybe only once or twice. The first time was when I was 21, my first love but (I didn't know how to love). The second time was at 35 and it's still going on now even though we separated recently but still love each other. I don't know about loving again any time soon. Love has to run it's course...

Toria agony auntI've loved people but I really do believe I've only really been 'in love' the one time as this person is someone no matter what I do I can't get over and even when he hurt me I forgave because I loved him so much.

I'm not saying that I won't or can't be in love again just at the moment it's only been the once, I do feel that true love is something you never get over and you never really forget that person as they always hold that special place in your heart.

Although I would like to think I can be in love again and maybe it's just the case of each time you love again it seems or feels more than before therefore making you wonder if the other times weren't love or weren't as much.
