Hi All,

So my boyfriend has been sort of hinting that he'd like me to get strip the carpet downstairs, but I'm a little unsure about it.

Ladies, have you done it before? Would you recommend it? Does it hurt as much as I think it might? Any other bits of advice you could give about it?

Gents, is this something you'd find attractive? I have always been worried of looking a bit too much like a wannabe porn star? Is it a good look?

Any thoughts/answers would be much appreciated.

lucy.whittaker agony auntHi All,

Thanks so much for your opinions! I decided to bite the bullet and go for it! Hurt alot less than i'd braced myself for, although that may have been the 3 large glasses of pinot grigio which were kindly suggested :)

Now just got to wait and see what the boyfriend thinks when he gets back from holiday!! :D

Personally, I think waxing is much better than shaving and it lasts longer. With shaving, it very quickly starts to feel like you've got a cactus in your underpants and it'll drive you NUTS.

Yeah, waxing does hurt but I don't think it's terrible and it's something you'll only have to do once every 3-4 weeks. Having a little wine OR a couple advil (NOT BOTH) definitely helps with the pain. And maybe think about buying one of those things to prevent ingrown hairs which also helps a LOT.

I think you should at least try it. You might like it. If not, it'll always grow back.

Personally... as a man, I don't really care for completely bald women.

Pubic hair is a sign of maturity. I'm not talk 70's bush here. Just like, you know neat and tidy. A landing strip or antyhign like that is perfect.

I don't exactly know where the whole Bald fad came from, I mean you didn;t here anyone in the 70's or before bitching about pubic hair and they invented the nastiest Porn you can think of.

Still. To each his own. But I am of the opinion that any man who prefers total baldness is... well... his desires should be better placed. I mean if I wanted to have sex with a woman with a child's vagina... I'd become a pedophile.

I disagree with this procedure. Pubic hair is there for a reason; it protects you from all sorts of diseases and infections. It actually Keeps you clean, and healthy.

And think about all the warnings you just read about pain, ingrown hair, possible infection from ingrown hair, and so on.

IMHO, it also is ugly. The women who don't have pubic hair are those who are technically Girls. WOMEN have pubic hair.

So, I always wonder why the infatuation with a look that is one that only Children have. It is just fashion trend. Adult Women and Men have pubic hair.

Am sure this raise a storm of protests! But I think au natural is Beautiful. It means you are an Adult!

TasteofIndia agony auntI get waxed, and all though it hurts while you're getting it (only when you're ACTIVELY getting it. As soon as they're done, it doesn't hurt anymore. At least for me), it's pretty great. I keep a landing strip, because I don't want to feel prepubescent, but after a wax, I feel cleaner, fresher and a little more confident in the bedroom.

But, to each their own!! Do what you're comfortable with, but me? I'm Hollywood all the way.

Absolutely recommended! It is painful, I'm not going to sugarcoat that part. But well well worth it. Once you do it, you won't want to go back.

A female reader, Angzw Zimbabwe +, writes (21 December 2009):

It hurts like hell but well well worth it. My advice is make sure your hair is slightly trimmed. If its too long it will hurt more. If its too short the wax won't grip. Also, try have your wax a day or two before your rendezvous with your guy because on the same day, the area might still be a little sensitive. Its really bad the first time but after that with repeat sessions it gets easier and easier. Very sexy and empowering! Especially if you are going Commando! Hollywood all the way baby!!

A female reader, Not My Name Australia +, writes (21 December 2009):

Not My Name agony auntI guess it depends how you go about the hair removal.

A lot of people shave coz it is quick, inexpensive, painless, not a lot of effort, etc. On the downside you can have shaving rash, tiny pimples come up in hair follicles, etc. Personally, a razor has never touched anything above my knee coz I hate spiky regrowth so that on it's own is enough to rule a razor out for me.

Some people wax which will have a degree of pain attached, can cause ingrown hairs, can be expensive if getting it done in a salon, - not to mention challenges ya modesty when some stranger is at ya bits with gloves and icypole sticks lol. Doing it yourself can be awkward and messy. On the upside tho, tends to be a smoother finish longterm, the regrowth is softer and it can take weeks even months for it to come back. I pass on this one too coz I have sensitive skin, cant tolerate wax on my legs let alone even think about going there on a delicate area.

Another option is depilatory creams. Cant say too much about the pro's and con's there, coz again with my sensitive skin that stuff burns me.

Personally I use an epilator coz it has the benefits of waxing but does not irritate my skin. And yup - it hurts like hell! In fact, I oft have a couple of glasses of wine to dull the pain before doing it. The shit we do huh - need our heads read sometimes lol.

A more permanent solution would be laser hair removal, however this is expensive, and there is no going back once you have done it. Apparently the sensation with that is much like having a rubber band pulled back and snapped against your skin - at least that is how a friend described it to me.

As for what guys think - diff guys like diff things. There are some threads on here giving guys varying opinions on this. Try putting it in to the search engine.

You won't look like a porn star unless your showing everyone your lack of carpeting in the playroom area..

Bald looks great! When eating a good tenderloin steak it's not as appealing when it's still covered in hair. Nobody likes hair in their food.
