try use a lubricant like astroglide or KY jelly because maybe your body doesnt produce enough lubricant. Start with a toothpaste sized small glob then put more if you need it.

It could be a condition called vaginismus. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaginismus
You should see your OB/GYN. They will prescribe a mild muscle relaxant and that should help your dilemma.

Your question belong more to psychology and less to anatomy. The pain you sense is perhaps because you both have little or no foreplay. Real pleasure pleasure of sex lay in 'foreplay', where as 'vaginal penetration' is something you decide to finish sexual activity by inviting 'ejaculation.'
So, I advise you to feel more pleasure through 'foreplay', and avoid intercourse for certain time and watch your own desire for 'vaginal penetration', as how badly you need penetration. When you begin to know that your desire for penetration is irresistible, then try for intercourse. You will certainly feel comfortable then.
