writes: this is not a relationship question, but i wondered if anyone would be able to help.usually my diet is very very poor, i work in mcdonalds, and on a typical work day but diet would be... cereal or toast for breakfast, say a big mac meal plus a dessert for lunch while im in work, i would finish my shift and be a little hungry so get a cheeseburger or something. id go home and have my tea, generally say curry or noodles or cheesy chips (somenthing generally unhealthy), then of an evening i would snack on 3 / 4 chocolate bars, 2 packs of crisp, jellies and sometimes more.im over weight by about 2 stone, so i decided on sunday that the next day (monday) id start a diet, which i did, im now on my third day of it. generally my diet now is cereal, a sandwich at lunch, a healthy tea, and say a healthy snack bar, or fruit of an evening. and maybe a piece of fruie throuought the day.the thing i was wondering was, monday was fine, but from waking up tuesday, all day, and all day so far today (wednesday), its rather embarrassing, but i have been passing wind, quite alot, constantly as well. i was just wondering, is this because i have suddenly had a change in my diet, and if it is is there anything i can do to stop it, because as i saym its quite embarrassing.thanks Reply to this Question Share |

if it bothers u eat the windy foods for the days/times u not at work or out socially, if u work evenings or go out more in the evenings have it in the morning, or the days u dnt have plans, or eat the foods in the evenings if u work or go out during the day. And ease up on them cereal bars, some of them contin more sugar than chocolate! Have fruit or vegetables for a snack. And not all veg makes u gassy! or liquidise it and have a home made shake. :) Good luck.

Yep, the fiber is the smoking gun. (pun intended) But fiber is good for you. So add it gradually to your diet. And Congratulations on improving your diet! McDonalds still has some healthy stuff on the menu so you can still get some benefit from your employment. But if you change your lunch to salad every day you will get the same gassy result.

yeah definitely change of diet, certain things can cause wind more than others, like onions for instance. the stuff you used to eat is all quite stodgy and likely to lead to constipation and now you've introduced much more fibre etc your gut is shifting, so it might be unpleasant now but as long as you don't overload your system too much with change your body should automatically adjust over the next couple of weeks. if it doesn't, go to your doctor. It would probably be best to ease yourself into your new diet as it is so different. make sure you exercise as well. Hope that helps.

Very simple - it's the healthy snack bar - lots of fiber!! It's not uncommon for people to pass a lot of gas when eating Fiber One or Nature Valley bars. Not sure what you're having - but take it easy on those . Looks like your body is just one of those. My husband is overweight too and he takes those bars - and boy he just farts constantly. It's not his fault. They don't even smell bad most of the time.
Good for you for starting that diet. It's better for your health, relationships and self-esteem. However, listen to your body. Good luck!
