It has something to do with how your body breaks the fish down after eating it. It is something n the fish that makes the fish smell like fish & the same thing in the fish that make you smell like fish. It is nothing to be alarmed about (if it is not an infection or std). I was told that very few women experience this. So, they r not aware of this problem. I was told by my doctor to drink PLENTY of water after I eat fish. Which works sometimes & sometimes it don't.

Only one way to find out, don't eat fish for a week and substitute it with curry, if it smells of meat madras - then your boyfriend's theory is true. {But I doubt it, somehow}: )Good luck, hon.BigSisxXx

It will generally show up a day or so after consuming the fish and will last another day or two. The more oil in the fish, the greater the odor. It is not uncommon, and generally nothing to worry about. However, if it continues unrelated to fish consumption, or if there is any itching or discharge then the patient should see a doctor right away as "fishy" smell can also signify Bacterial Vaginosis among other things.

I have experienced it first hand, so I know it to be true. But you should get checked by your doctor to rule out anything serious.

It has nothing to do with eating fish! U can be the type that just has a very strong odor and there's remedies that help fight the oder, but have u always smelled fishy down there?
Or it can be an infection, std, etc. So go get checked by all means.
Sometimes u can't smell urself and u have no way of knowing u smell, but u have been told, and also have him get checked too, just to be safe.

In due respect to my female aunties answering, it is quite possible that a heavy diet of fish can result in a fairly strong "fishy smell" which is not all that unusual in the vagina of many women, regardless of diet. My personal experience includes Asian women who frequently include a lot of seafood in their diet, and the result is a fairly fishy body aroma. To this extent, it is usually not very offensive, but I'll agree that - if very strong, especially is there is any vaginal discharge, then it is likely time to visit a gynecologist. As Irish49 suggests, an infection is possible.

yeah you deffinetly need a doctor. it shouldnt smell like that unless there is an infection down there. fishy smell is a sign of an std so go see a doc please.

Not to worry, they can usually get you prescription or send you to get something like Monistat 7 or something like that. Nothing major, but you definitely want to get in to get checked out. The sooner the better.

A
