Do her drunken texts reveal something new?

Question - (2 November 2009) 5 Answers - (Newest, 2 November 2009)
A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

We all know how blunt or honest we can be when drunk.

Here's the scenario. She's 23, at a bar, drunk and I'm at home relaxing from a long day of work. Here's the texts:

Me: What's up?

Her: I'm at a bar babe... gettin pretty drunk haha

Me: Looks like you're already past drunk. Hope you have a ride home. Talk to you tomorrow.

Her: Ur so cute... sorry I just had to say it.

I didn't reply to that. Now, this girl has just become a really good friend of mine. I tried to tell her I like her more than that (last week) but didn't work out but we are still good friends.

What does it mean if a girl calls you babe and cute when drunk? She has never said those two weeks to me when sober. I'm thinking she means that I'm sweet for thinking of that but I'm still not getting any play.

Ladies can you help out?

Honeypie agony auntI wouldn't read so much into it honestly. She was drunk.

Cute is ( in female speak) you are a good looking guy. Now if she had used HOT or STUD.. it could have meant interest.

Sorry.

I think you are WAY over analyzing this. Your assessment written in your post is right on the money.

She is being nice to you, period because you sent her a text and she knows you like her.

In written word, it sometimes help to go overboard on the terms of endearment to let someone know you are being positive and not negative...make sense?

A female reader, PixiePie United Kingdom +, writes (2 November 2009):

PixiePie agony auntgirls can get overly flirtatious when intoxicated, so i wouldn't take it seriously. if, when sober, she states it yet again, then you can approach her about it, but don't get your hopes up yet. she probably just was thankful because you cared.

however, if you wanted to tell her you like her, then by all means go ahead, she won't know how to react until you've given her something to react to, just don't do it because of what she's said when drunk.

hope this helps!

A female reader, LethalInjection-x United Kingdom +, writes (2 November 2009):

LethalInjection-x agony auntHm, it could be that she does like you in a more than friend way so to speak, but when sober she realises that other things would either get in the way of things being taken further.. or she doesn't want to ruin a friendship. Well, there are many reasons.

Or, alcohol could just make her more flirtatious, and being drunk she may have taken you being considerate as a strange come-on I suppose, I've known that to happen before.

However, whatever it is, I think you should perhaps ignore it. Afterall, things didn't work out while she was sober, which is the state she'd be in most of the time, so you should go by this, in my opinion.
