A age 26-29, * writes:

Hi. My name is Quinn and i have been experiancing some weird things. I have been to many websites and nothing has helped. Could you please help me?

Okay so this is what's happeneing,

I have missed my period for 1 month and 1/2... but i have NOT had sex, i am still a virgin, and i have all of a sudden been getting tenderness in my breasts, i looked it up and the website said it was because i was ovulating, and my body was accumulating water, and the water was helping giving my uterous nutrients so i could have a baby. The only thing i was wondering was, my friend told me that there was this lady who got HERSELF pregnant by herself, and i know this sounds dumb, but could i have gotten myself pregnant?

Or could something be wrong with me?

I am too afraid to ask my mom about it, and my doctor is a man. What should i do?

AuntyEm agony auntAt your age you are still going through the body changes of puberty. It is normal to have irregular periods.

Sometimes if your body is underweight, that can also affect your period...so make sure you eat a regular and healthy diet. Another thing that can affect your period is stress...I suspect over worrying about your period is causing you stress.

If you havent had sex, you arnt pregnant and as caring guy said, your friend was misinformed.

Swollen breasts are normal in puberty...your breasts are just getting to the size they will be when you reach maturity. You may also get increased headaches and tummy cramps at this time too...all normal!!

If your period doesn't return, your doctor can give you some medication to restart it. It really is very common...so don't worry.

pepper27 agony auntHi hunny

If you have never had sex and are a virgin sweetheart you are not pregnant, The best advise I can give you is to talk to your mum you have done nothing wrong at all. A doctors appointment would be a good idea just to get checked out, My doctor is a man and they see so many people hun that they are quite used to any questions you may have so please dont be scared..When I first started my periods they sometimes didnt fall on the right dates infact for the first few years they were late by a few months untill I got older and it all settled down..I hope this has helped sweetheart TAKE CARE WITH LOVE MANDY XXXXXXXX

yeah like the first two posters said, no sex = not pregnant... Dont stress too much, for the first few years when my period started, so between 14 and mayb 17 i had irregular periods. They settle to a routine eventually. If you are really concerned talk to a school nurse or doctor, thats what they are there for

I agree with the other 2 answers, you're not going to be pregnant without sperm being present. It's important to have a doctor or a medical person you can talk to, you can't risk your health and you might want to talk about other things in the future. Can you make appointments to see a nurse where you're from? In NZ we can. Don't be afraid to talk to your mum about growing up - she grew up once too and I bet she'd want you to talk to her. Maybe bring it up by talking about breat pain rather than a possible pregnancy :) Might make it easier.

A male reader, daletom United States +, writes (7 July 2010):

If you have not had sex, you are NOT pregnant.

It's not unusual for young women to have irregular periods. That's one reason the so-called "safe-period" and "rhythm method" birth control are unreliable for teens. And many women get tenderness in their breasts - or uncomfortable sensations in other parts of their bodies - that are related to their periods.

Your body is telling you that you are growing up and becoming an adult! Now, you really should do the adult thing, and find a doctor to make sure there are no potential problems as you enter this new part of your life. If you're not comfortable with your family doctor, your school counselor can help you find a woman doctor who will help you.

Sweetie, if you've not had sex, you're not pregnant. Your friend has been misinformed. However, it sounds like you need to see a doctor anyway to get checked over. You don't need to be worried about the doctor being a man. He's paid to be a doctor, and is a professional and will have dealt with things like this before. You're not pregnant, but you need a check up. Don't take chances with your health.

This is verified as being by the original poster of the question

And also, i have dreams... about me having sex, and getting pregnant. They seem too real, i feel the pain of the dream, when i had it for the first time in my dream, I felt everything and i woke up and felt like i was in agony. So i don't know what's going on... i don't think anyone in this house has done anything to me, in fact i am pretty damn sure!

But you know how they say "If you are killed in your dream you could be dead in real life."?

What if you get pregnant in your dream, you could get pregnant in real life... i don't know what to do... i'm scared!
