writes: Ok I got a question for you...can you comment and access your facebook account if you are incarcerated??? I am confused because I have a friend who told me he is in jail (in new jersey if that helps) and he is commenting on posts on his facebook page. He also texted me saying he could access his sprint account and text via a computer in jail. This sounds fishy to me and I am concerned he is lying to me. I would like to hear what you think about it. I would think things should be monitored a lot better than that. He is in a county jail not a state prison supposively. Please answer with your opinion on this.

Naaah... How could that be ?I've never been in jail- but is common knowledge that when you are in jail your calls and correspondence are restricted and/or monitored. Visits are supervised. If you want to order , say, a toothpaste from a catalogue, there's first a lot of red tape to go trough and permissions to be asked. And they would leave the inmates free to chat away with their friends on Facebook ?.. how the jail officers would know that the inmates are not communicating in code and making arrangements to organize a robbery or an evasion ?...He is clearly bulllshitting you.

My daughter works in a county jail, and she said she's never heard of such a thing.. I realize every place is different, but I think your friend is pulling your leg.

No, he's definitely lying to you. If he wanted to communicate with you you'd have to get approved first.http://www.bop.gov/inmate_programs/trulincs_faq.jsp.

I tried to Google your question and can't get any information.I suggest you call your local jail and put the question to an official there. You could do so anonymously if you want....

You must have met him online and be long distance or else you would have just visited the jail, checked at his work, or with a mutual friend. Maybe you should terminate this so called friendship since there seems to not be much trust or anything in it. This whole thing doesn't make any sense and people online could be anyone and not who they say they are anyway.
