Depending on the results of these massive exams will help decide if i can go to universitys and what sort of jobs are open to me. So year there pretty big. I am tied between to subjects and i have no idea which one too choose. I have currently choosen to do History which takes up one GCSE and Btech Health and Social Care which takes up two GCSE'S which means i have one more choice left. I am tied between either doing Art and Design or Business and Enterprise. I have written a list of pro's and con's and i was wondering from my list of pro's and con's which one you think would suit me best. I know it is only me who can decide but your feed back will be muchly appreciated. Heres my list.Art and Design- I am very intrested in art and i have a passion for Italian renassiance art and it really catches my curiosity. I am good at writing down my opinions and thoughts on art and would like to think I could write a whole essay on stuff. However my art abilitys are rather limited as i am good at painting things but i am not excellent and find some very basic things hard. The reason why i would like to do art is not because i am good at it but mainly because i really enjoy it and it gives me abit of an escape route. I am very good at being consistent with art and once i start it i cannot not stop. I would not consider getting a job in art in the future but i think its a great skill to have and it really intrests me. I also have a great imagination that can make my art rather intresting.Business and Enterprise- I do find business abit boring to be honest and it doesn't intrest me as much art. However i am very good at argueing and getting my point across and i find i make a very good leader but i do find working in a team hard. I enjoy doing speeches and campaignes and ever since i was young ive always had a thing with making money. I am very good at convincing people to do stuff and if i did do buisness as a job i am excellent at wording things right coming up with ideas and doing pitches. Business does require i big amount of confidence and even though i have an okay amount i am not 100% sure if it would be enoungh. You also in buisness have to take critisim very well which i am really not good at. I love the idea though of maybe setting up your own little business , however i am not good at things like spreadsheets and am terrible at maths and i know buisness requires things like handleing money. Setting up my own business has always appealed to me so i am not sure if i would consider getting a job in that line so it is a maybe. So yeah which should i choose? from what you have heard which one sounds best for me. Too sum up in short I am Okay at Art and i really enjoy it. And i am pretty good at Business and Enterprise but some parts of it bore me. One more thing i have to the 6th to choose so i really really need quick adivce.

xTheAlmightyDuckx is verified as being by the original poster of the questionI just thought id tell you i have decided to choose Art and Design, simply because i took everything into prespective and had a look at my mums GCSE art work and final peices, she got a B in Art and i had a look through and realized that my art skills are kinda at the same standard.
Also i do have more passion in art than Business and i think it will probably intrest me more, not to mention as i am taking on two other subjects which will contain not much practical work and mainly writing, i thought it would be nice to have one subject which was abit different.
Thanks for all your suggestions you have been great x

xTheAlmightyDuckx is verified as being by the original poster of the questionWow thanks for all of your replies :). I forgot to include abit of info so i'll just write it now. First i forgot to say that i am starting my Gcse's later than everyone else because i have been off for a yaer because ive been ill. So this means i am gonna be getting catch up work aswell as normal work so maybe art isn't such a good idea. Secondly my school specializes in Business and enterprise so i would get a better shot at it. I am leaning now more towards doing Business than art but i will tell you all for certain what i have choosen on the 6th :) So thanks. xlaurenx- Thankyou :) i have choosen my GCSE'S carefully and made sure that i'm not doing something just because i think it will get me a better job. I am following my passion which is Health and Social care but thanks for sharing that with me as i know many over people who are taking classes just because there friends are etc.TasteofIndia- Thank you :) Thats a good point i must say. As i live about 3 hours away from London which considering its London isn't that far, it is like one of the majour business capitals in the world so i will keep it in mind as art is a subject with rather limited jobs.Xx-Scorpio-xX- Thanks you make a good point! You see idealiy i would love to get a job in the mental health sector, and i thought if i become a pyschiatrist or something i could set up my own business and stuff. The only thing i am worried about is if business is going to be painfully boring and not as i imagine. Also i need to be careful if i do, do art, how much work i am going to get as i don't want to start drowning in the work load.mammaboo- I agree with you intially. For me if i wanted to get a job money would be the second best thing but enjoyment would be first. My passion is Health and Social care which i have alreayd choosen this is just a back up plan. I will keep your wise words in mind Thanks!Spunky monkey- Oh thankyou :) yeah i have always been organized abit too organized really, as i haven't even got back to school yet we have work expeirence next year in june and i have already reserved myself a place in day care. As for the Art therpay idea i have already thought about it and yeah it is one of the reasons why i might do art as Health and social is my passion. I know that working in the mental health sector is normanally anything but calm and easy. I want to work in that line soo badly though as at the begining of the year i was at high risk of pretty much being chucked in a loony bin and i didn't recieve any help from the mental health sector and had to get better by myself. So i guess i want to work so badly in that line of work to help people who really need it.Anonymous- Thank you :) You see i am good at painting certain things but i do struggle with the more complicated stuff, but the thing i am good at in art is kind of interpreting what paintings mean and writing about them, but as i mentioned at the begining i have catch up work aswell so Art might not be the best choice. Also with business i am worried i will find it boring, because if i find a subject boring i find it so much harder to work. But thankyou :).lalanay1- Historys awesome! Must admit i do love history. And oh thanks for your suggestion, i do have some natrual talent in art i can paint fairly good, but there just some parts of art i find really difficult, but hey anyway thanks :).

I regretted my A level choices as I went for ones that I thought would give me the best career but if your heart isnt in it then you end up hating what you are doing. Just go with what you know you will be good at and will enjoy! Luckily I am now doing what I wanted to and will be a teacher soon but I wish I just followed my heart from the start instead of my head. Good luck x

I faced a (sorta) similar dilemma. My passion and talent is in the theater, but I guess I wanted a solid backup plan and to make myself a double threat in the business world. So, while it took an additional two years, double-majoring was worth it. Maybe that's something you want to consider... it does take a bit more time, unless you've really got the drive and no full-time job or family.
Business will be more applicable to the modern world - I hear that's a rather lucrative major and that it opens up a lot more jobs than something as specialized as art (and it's always a challenge attempting to get paid for the craft)... but, if you have a passion then I say pursue it. Good luck!

I chose art GCSE because i thought it would be relaxing and i liked it, but it was actually my most stressful subject and the one i had to do most work in. (i chose History, and an advanced ICT option which took up 2 choices)
Business would be a better GCSE to have in my opinion since it's more academic and colleges/6th forms sometimes require you to have certain subjects at GCSE before you can do the further qualification. Also, if you're interested in setting up your own business, then surely it's better to have this one? As for the maths, then you probably would get taught the basics you need i would assume?
You could still do painting and art in your own free time? ^_^

You have to have a passion for what you do in order for you to be happy in your work. If you have the passion and you are happy doin what you do best every day the money is secondary.Lots of people who start their own buisness are not good at math and thats because they are creative. Look at the chef Gorden Ramsey he set up a restaurant with the help of his father in law who had far more buisness knowledge than he. Gordon learned along the way but his passion is for food. If you have a passion for learning more about the buisness world then go for your second option. what you need to think about is the goal that you are wanting to achieve. Many peole who start a buisness learn buisness as they go along. There are some things you really cannot teach people to do well all though many have tried and that is the art of selling. You either have it or you don,t.

I would say do the one that you enjoy more as in the long run you are more likely to apply yourself to it and thus get a better grade. Also remember that although important, GCSEs are only a stepping stone onto the next level (which will be either A levels or Btecs if you want to stay in education or apprenticeships otherwise)and ultimately the next level is the one thatll affect your future. As it happens I actually did Art and Design GCSE and would say that its not difficult but there is a LOT of work and you really have to enjoy it. Also I found that there isnt a whole lot of choice on what area to specialise in and there is a lot of writing. I wasn't too good at all the painting but liked drawing and making things so that helped. I did well at the writing which is where most of my grade came from. In the end I got a B which I was pleased with considering Art was my worst subject. I also have friends that did Business GCSE and a lot of them found it easy but really, really boring. In the end it comes down to you, but I would suggest doing what you enjoy more and although business would be more useful, you can always pick it up later if you were so desperate.Hope I helped and good luck in your GCSE'sxxx

Woop History! I did History at GCSE :) Got an A in it and I'm doing it at A-Level now...
As for your question- I honestly suggest you take Business.
Art requires some natural talent- I'm not suggested that you aren't talented, but to pass and pass well in art you have to be EXCEPTIONAL at least.
Business sounds like the safe option, and if it suits your future plans more than Art then you should pick it :)
