I'm joining a gym tomorrow and plan to go a few times a week but was wondering if there's any tips out there you may have for toning up and curbing my endless eating?

i agree with the person below me. small meals more frequently helps boost metabolism. if you dont have the schedule for that, as long as you eat well, youll be fine. caffeine also helps metabolism. weight lifting removes body fat most effectively. you will find that out once you join the gym. good luck!

If you feel uncomfortable with your weight within yourself, then there is no harm in trying to become a healthier person. If you feel this way because of the media, then you're doing this for the wrong reasons.
One good way to lose weight is to have little a lot. Switch your three staple meals a day to four or five smaller meals. Exercise a little every day; for example, a 30 minute walk every day is really good for you).
And to anonymous male reader below me...
Size 0 is NOT healthy, and I don't think anyone is saying it is. If that were the case then why are models of this size currently being banned from catwalks?
Best wishes.

Hi Emma,
I think it's great that you want to do something for your health. I had almost the same proportions as you last year and I lost 7 kilos and I became a bit happier with my body.
A few general tips:
1) Start easy. If you start off really hard with going to the gym every day you'll get tired soon. So do things at your own pace.
2) Eat fruit instead of candy. I ate lots of fruit the first few weeks.
3) Choose water over sweet drinks if you can. These innocent cans of coke contain so much extra sugar it's unbelievable.
4) Try using an online exercise and food journal. I used fitday.com . You'll need to register an account but it is free. When you register your activities and your food you'll quickly find out what is good and what is not so good to do. I for one discovered that pasta wasn't that good for loosing weight =)
5) Get a digital scale. It's motivating to see the weight drop.
6) Go shopping for new clothes after you've lost a few kilos. Suddenly you'll get into sizes that you never thought you'd fit into and it feels nice.
7) Try biking to work if that is possible. I bought a bike and I just fell in love with having the wind in my hair and never needing to look for parking. =)
Good luck!
