Low carb diets work really well for men with a pot belly! Just cutting out all wheat products (bread, pasta, flour) can go a long way. heartscanblog.blogspot.com, www.marksdailyapple have helped a lot of folks in this situation.

Hi,
During the last winter I gained loads of weight due to stress from exams and eating crap/junk food & not getting much excercise.
I lost nearly 2 stones recently by cutting out the junk food, eating more fruit & veg..and cycling loads (20miles per day every 2-3 days)...but you dont hve to cycle on the street..can use an excercise bike.
If you are heavy, I recommend the cycling and or swimming as it puts less stress on the joints.
I also got my dumb bells out (5lbs total each) and use these 2-3 times a day for approx 5-10 mins.
Everyone has told me that I have lost loads of weight..esp round my stomach...& I have noticed in in my trousers.
Good luck

This can be done by either 1) doing a lot of cardio, while eating the same, 2) doing a lot of cardio, while reducing the amount you eat or 3) just reducing the amount you eat.
Your best bet is to cut out sugars and other fatty foods from your diet and do a lot of cardio each day - but take it slow at first. Walking is good at first, but it seems your body has adapted to walking 25 miles easily per week. Therefore, increase your distance or intensity.
Best of luck!

The first writer is absolutely right. You must burn more calories than you consume... ... and if you're walking and exercising as you say you are then the problem lies at the table.
A man wighing 250 needs 125 ox of WATER each and everyday..... Coffee, soft drinks, juice, sports drinks, tea, beer, milk etc do NOT count... It must be water... pure and simple for proper hydration...... and a slimmer you.
Perhaps sugar is another problem? Most of us get far too much of it....Its in just about everything... Try eating a piece of fruit instead of a sweet for dessert.

The bottom line is you have to take in fewer calories than you burn. You're doing good stuff to burn them, but as you get older your metabolism changes, so for the same amount of exercise you can't eat as much. So you've got to burn more or eat less.
