Eat less and do more exercise. It really is that simple!

Cut out processed food and meat and fish, do a bit more walking. I've lost a stone from it. And I lost that stone in a month

Hi,

I lost 30lbs recently over the summer. How? I eat less crap food and excercised more on my bike & swimming..and eating loads of fruit & veg.

If you cant get out due to yr kids, get yrself an excercise bike and try to cycle for say (build up to it) 30+ mins per day. I would recommend the bike/swimming over running as it places less stres on the joints.

Also Alcohol contains loads of calories..so try to drink water.

Remember any weight loss programme is a programme for life....as soon as you stop any diet, you will probably put the weight back on & more.

Good luck

The cheapest, easiest thing you can do is go for a good brisk walk every day - the earlier in the day the better as this will kick start your metabolism to burn calories the rest of the day. Try to do this every day and find a friend who will join in to help keep you motivated. If not all of your kids are in school and you don't have a sitter you can take the stroller. Make sure you wear appropriate footwear and walk fast so you feel a sweat coming on - an hour would be great, but 30 mins is a good start. Swimming would also be a good low impact cardio - or an aqua aerobics class if you aren't a good swimmer.

Your local rec centre probably has personal trainers and you could also have them build you a program - or if you think finance/time-wise using the gym won't work for you, then go once and get them to show you how to use the small free weights properly. Then you can buy a v cheap set to use at home - if you tone your muscle you will burn off that weight more efficiently.

Finally, to echo the other comments, you need to look at what you're eating. Perhaps keep an honest food diary for a week to get a picture of your eating habits. One of the worst things for mothers is eating their kids leftovers, and tasting too much while preparing foods.

If you are hungry and its not food time, have a big glass of water. Only eat if you are still hungry 20 mins later. Don't eat after 7pm. Buy smaller dinner plates/dont fill your plate - one of the biggest dietary issues in overweight people is not eating junk, but eating too big a portion.

Eat less, exercise more.

You need to eat 3500 calories fewer/use 3500 more calories to lose 1 lb fat.

I find it almost impossible to believe that if you try and lose the weight by keeping an eye on calories that you won't lose the weight. I don't know what you have tried before but it is just simple maths at the end of the day and there is nothing more to it than that.

natmarie agony aunthey, I lost 3 stone 5 years ago, just by eating DIFFERENT foods. Eg; Salads, fish, vegeatables. ,meat etc. I did 't even have to do any excersice. It took around 8 months, and my life changed after that. You can eat as amuch saldas and veg etc as you wnat.. just dont; hit the junk food at all or if you do, only every two months, and do;t let it send you back into bad eatng. You can alos have low fat crisps. but no sweets except one now and then. it will work over time . Good Luck. let me knowho you get on. Natxx
