A female reader, Accountable United Kingdom +, writes (12 May 2010):

Accountable agony auntYou shouldnt be using the morning after pill as regular contraception - it is meant for emergency use, as it can have an extremely negative effect on your hormonal system. What you should do is start using condoms/the contraceptive pill, or some other form of birth control that suits you. Good luck!

Don't use the "morning after pill" as contraceptive.

Go see your doctor.

A female reader, celtic_tiger United Kingdom +, writes (12 May 2010):

celtic_tiger agony auntYou should NEVER rely on the morning after pill as a form of contraception!!!! That is so irresponsible and stupid, not to mention highly dangerous.

The morning after pills are still very new, and the long term side effects are not truely known. By taking too many, you could well be putting your future health at risk, and possibly even damaging your fertility for when you do actually want children in the future.

If you are actually 18-21 years old, then I would hope you have a bit more sense and can be grown up enough to get yourself to the Doctor, get on the pill (OR implant, patch, coil, cap, sponge - there are MANY forms of contraceptive) and get yourself down to the nearest supermarket and buy some condoms. Its not difficult.

All you are doing is putting yourself at risk of pregnancy, infections, and diseases. Often many STD's do not have symptoms, so you may never know you have it until its too late, and you suddenly find you are not able to have children. Then there are things like HIV and AIDs, which will make you very sick, and will kill you.

Stop being so irresponsible and act like a grown up!

Is it worth the risk??? Your life.

A male reader, bruce lee Nigeria +, writes (12 May 2010):

bruce lee agony auntCalm down madam. Just stay calm. You could always speak to a Doctor or expert about all this. But do take notice of what k c100 says.

If there is anything in life that is certain...if history has taught us anything...it's that everyone must take responsibility for their own actions, or they will suffer the consequences.

Those who don't consider the consequences, or take steps to prevent them, suffer the consequences.

What is the point of all this? See a Doctor.

All the best.

No, it won't. At all. Sorry to sound like a boring old man here, but get yourself down to the doctor, get the morning after pill again and then get yourself on the contraceptive pill before you get pregnant.

A female reader, Laura1318 Malaysia +, writes (12 May 2010):

Laura1318 agony auntThe Plan B pills are most effective when taken within 72 hours. The earlier the better.

There is only a 24-hour window during which an egg can be fertilized. If you take the morning after pill after 24 hours, you may not be protected. Once conception has occurred, the pill becomes ineffective.

If ovulation has not occur then you are still protected by the Plan B pill and you do not have to take another pill.

There are a lot of variables here and there is still a risk that you could get pregnant.

To be safe, use condoms or go on the pill.Do not use the Plan B as a contraception method.

A female reader, k_c100 United Kingdom +, writes (12 May 2010):

k_c100 agony auntI am really trying my best not to be nasty here but you dont even know the name of the pill you took! It is the "morning after pill" not whatever you tried to call it!

By the sounds of things you really should NOT be having sex - you cant spell, you dont know what pills you are taking, you think emergency contaception is a form of contraception - you really need to grow up and learn about sex before you start having sex! I hope to god you are not pregnant, there is a good chance you may be because NO YOU ARE NOT COVERED!!

Let me try and put this as simply as possible - when you have sex without a condom and/or birth control sperm will leave your partner's penis through a) his pre-cum which leaks out just before he ejaculates, and b) in the ejaculate itself. These sperm will swim up and fertilise the egg that has been released from your ovaries. The only way to prevent pregnancy is to use condoms and take a form of birth control like the pill. You have to be careful with condoms as they can break so the one condom you use must be put on correctly. Hence why it is always best to use birth control too - the pill is easy to take, you just have 1 per day and it is free from your doctor.

As for the morning after pill, this is EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION. It should only be used in very rare circumstances where you have been foolish enough to have unprotected sex, or where your condom has broken or something like that. You have to take the morning after pill within 72 hours of having unprotected sex otherwise it wont work. For each day late you take it, the effectiveness is reduced. YOU CANNOT USE THIS AS A RELIABLE SOURCE OF CONTRACEPTION, IT DOES NOT ALWYAYS WORK!!

Whereas taking the pill regularly or using condoms (ideally both) is reliable and will prevent you from getting pregnant.

So here is what you need to do - go to the sexual health clinic or doctors to get another morning after pill but make sure you speak to a healthcare professional so they can advise you on whether it is safe to take another one so soon. Then you need to go to the doctors and get tested for STD's - because you have had unprotected sex on a few occasions there is a good chance you could have caught something therefore you need to be tested so you can treat any diseases quickly. While you are with your doctor you also need to discuss conctraception - you really need some form of birth control, you cannot keep relying on the morning after pill each time. Start being responsible for your own body and take control - you are acting like a silly 13 year old who has no idea about sex and health! If you are mature enough to have sex then you need to be mature enough to take control of the situation and stop putting your health at risk, and stop risking pregnancy each time just for the sake of a quick thrill.

I hope you take notice and make some changes - you cannot keep on acting this way otherwise you will end up with a baby on the way and maybe even some nasty disease like HIV or Chlamidya.
