writes:Ok, over the past few years me and my first cousin and i have gone really close and want to go further she lives kind of far and we talk time to time but i am afrain my family will not accept me. What should i do? and also is this a sin if we have sex? And is it legal in the U.S.A?

reader, anonymous, writes (14 December 2007): In some religions first cousin relationships are allowed and are not frowned upon and are legal in the UK as well. As far as the US is concerned, this sort of relationship is not legal, but then again it all has to do with your religion.

 The reason it is wrong to have sexual relations with your cousin is because you have the same/similar genes running in your family and those genes can cause horrible birth defects and death for any children you would have. It better to obey the law and advice of religion and leave your cousin alone! having sex with relatives especially your aunts or uncle's children is a slap in the face and very disrespectful.

I believe it is legal in the UK nt sure about in the US however there could be certain genetic problems if you have children and it would more than likely cause alot of upset amongst your family members.Some religions fully approve cousin relationships but the majority frown upon it.
