One of my friends in school has a really cute style, but I'm afraid that if I start dressing like her, I will become a wannabe. Do you think it would be a bad thing if I want to dress like her???

CindyCares agony aunt Yes. Dress like yourself and find your own style. You can "steal " from her one or two little details if you really want, but don't be a clone . Set your own trends.

chigirl agony auntJust avoid copying her exactly, and if she asks about it you can say that you thought her style was so nice it inspired you to do something similar. She should take it as a complement. Depending on what type of people your friends are this could either go ok or you could get stamped as a copy cat. So judge it for yourself, but I think adding a few elements from her style onto hers will be ok. Change style gradually, and remember to always make it personal and not copy her down to the last dot. If you make it your own no one will be able to call you a wannabe.

tennisstar88 agony auntLike as in wore the exact same outfits she did? That would be following her, and at your age you could call it being a wannabe.

I would ask her where she gets her clothes, compliment her style. Go shop at where she shops, maybe a few stores that are similar, and put together your own look. I'm not saying show up at school, looking like her twin. It's best to be an individual.

why dont you tell her that you really like her style maybe she could give you some pointers or maybe you and her could go shopping some time and she could help you choose some stuff... you never know she may be flattered that you even consider dressing similar to her

A male reader, CJH United Kingdom +, writes (16 December 2010):

CJH agony auntIt would be a bad thing if you copied her every move and dressed like her just because you had decided to rather than the fact you liked the look.

Life is about being an individual but that doesnt mean that taste or style is an exclusive thing.

Do what makes you happy and forget about what anybody may think or say - its your life.

Stop worrying.
