schristinar85 agony auntIntercourse is losing your virginity. Oral sex is part of sex, but it doesn't mean you've lost your virginity. Have fun and enjoy. Oral sex is awesome!

xhailofbulletsx agony auntNope. Oral sex has nothing to do with virginity. To lose your virginity, you need to have actual intercourse (penis enters vagina).

However, some people believe that oral sex is still a form of sex and therefore if you take part in it, you have lost your virginity.

So, I guess it is ultimately up to you and what you believe.

To NL: she only said that she was a virgin. I don't know that the boyfriend is too so I mentioned condoms just in case.

Ok, in response to your question; 'NO, you will not lose your V plates if you guys have oral sex'.

In response to some of these other peoples comments, if you both are virgins then you cant get STDs. Why would you wear a condom duing oral sex anyway? Thats ridiculous!

Also, you are worried about losing your virginity - dont worry about it. Sex is a great thing as im sure most people would agree, its an experience that you should have in life. Take it slowly, you are moving in the right direction.

Good luck get down and get dirty!

The definition of a virgin is someone who has not recieved full vaginal penetration.

You would not be recieving vanginal penetration, so you would officially be a virgin. :)

Oral sex is sex and if you do it your virginity will be lost.

Also STDs can be transmitted through that sort of contact so be sure he wares a condom if you do it.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (26 June 2008):

"virginity" is today's realtistic terms is defined by most people as meaning any sort of physical penetrative action. So anal and oral sex would both make you lose your virginity.

However, if you go by the old fashioned ways, losing your virginity would be caused by the hymen breaking during the first time you have vaginal intercourse. But, be aware, not all girls even have hymens, and mine didn't break/bleed at all my first time (I'm pretty sure I never even had a hymen). But anyway, the point is that "virginity" is just about how you define it. Think about your own values/beliefs and work from there.

A female reader, Fiona xxx United Kingdom +, writes (26 June 2008):

Fiona xxx agony auntI assume you are referring to the hymen breaking? Even if this happens you are strictly speaking still a virgin until you actually have sex.

It sounds like you are slowly getting nearer to and ready for having sex. Do I assume you see this as a compromise in the meantime?

Don't rush things, and take your time, and do whatever feels right.

its a tricky question .it depends what your definition of sex is really, some people these days dont think its sex but some people think anal isnt sex either.personally i think any sexual contact is sex,i dont really seee the difference of someone inserting there tounge in some girls vagina or penis really,so id say it is.but a lot of people would disagree with me
