Worried I won't be able to perform!

Question - (3 January 2009) 3 Answers - (Newest, 4 January 2009)
A male United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

i've never masturbated because i can't climax. i just get bored (and sore). When i was about 8-9, i had an operation where they cut the foreskin away from the head (because i was unable to pull it back). i think this may have something to do with it because i've heard that a tight foreskin can stop ejaculation and it is still tight when hard.

i'm 16 now and thinking i may be wanting to have sex, but am worried i won't be able to perform. also i regularly have wet dreams (at least one a week), is this normal or could it be caused by my problem.

i'm really embarrassed about this and so i havn't been to see a doctor.

thanks for any advice

A male reader, DavidW New Zealand +, writes (4 January 2009):

No tight foreskin cannot stop ejaculation. I think you are in the earier stages of puberty and you need to let your body develop. Nocturnal emmissions are very normal and that proves tight foreskin cannot obstruct ejaculation as you orgasm during a wet dream.

I think you problem is due to your immature body at this point and you should not concern yourself until you get nearer 20 years old, some boys don't have their first orgasm until 18 19 years old.

I would have thought a 16 year old boy having wet dreams is a sign that you are completely normal. If you are worried and uncomfortable seeing your GP, there will be a sexual health centre in your area, where they will be able to check you out and give you some advise. If you ring NHS Direct on 0845 4647 and explain your concerns, I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction.

A male reader, NITRAM BLUE Philippines +, writes (3 January 2009):

NITRAM BLUE agony auntThere is nothing wrong with you. You are in your puberty stage that is why you are having wet dreams. There is nothing wrong with that at your age.

Circumcision had nothing do with your worries. Its all in your young mind. Now when you play with yourself and unable to reach orgasm and it becomes sore well because you are doing it too damn hard. Apply some body lotion or lubrication then you avoid it becoming swollen.

You cannot judge your sexual performance by yourself. Performance is a learned skill and you will learn that from an experienced woman. There are self help books around but nothing beats hands on experience.

You are still young 16-17 y.o. you have much to learn, grasshopper.
