There could be a myriad of suggestions and answers here, at the end of the day no one really knows.
If your concerned about this maybe get her to looked at by a professional.

You might ask your doctor for a referral to have her evaluated to determine if she might have adult attention deficit disorder. You might also ask her if she has had a serious head injury or had a fall she never mentioned to you?
I also agree with Youcannotbeserious, it could be how she deals with stress.
My dearly-departed partner of 28 years was an attorney, and really liked to hear himself talk. I couldn't get a word in edgewise; and he could go on and on and on! I couldn't help but zone-out; because it was usually a one-way conversation.
People who are super solitary, or introverted, tend to live inside their heads. They are in their own little world; and might drift-off or veg-out from time to time. If you've noticed it's something unusual, and getting progressively worse; she should be medically evaluated.

Why would you ask a question like this of a bunch of strangers on the internet? Surely her doctor would be the right person to speak to about this, or even her family. Is she aware of what she does? Have you asked her why she does it? Perhaps it is just her way of coping with stress.

No, we can't tell if she's okay. We have no idea whether her "zoning out" is due to boredom, tiredness, drugs, psychological issues or whether she is experiencing some seizure activity in her brain.
You don't give us any other information. How long do these episodes last? What's happening around her when these episodes start? What brings her out of it? How does she behave when she gets out of it? Have you ask her about these episodes?
If you're worried that something'wrong with her, you should encourage her to see a doctor.
