A male Mexico age 41-50, anonymous writes:

Hello everybody, I have a question...

I've had an on/off relationship with this girl for a few years. The last time we broke up I thought it was for good since at that time we were planning on getting married. We started seeing each other again a few months ago and just about two months ago I realized I still love her.

We talked and decided that if we get back together it would be to get married and pick up where we left off. So I asked her again.. "do you want to be my girlfriend?" Until yesterday I had not received a straight answer from her, anytime I brought it up again she kept evading the question but we were still seeing each other, going out for dinner, etc etc. She told me yesterday that if she said "yes", we still wouldn't be a couple, only if I give her the ring would she be my girlfriend. My initial reaction was "bullshit" and I let her know. She was very quiet for the rest of the night.

Yeah, getting married is what we both want, but why come up with such a thing?

What do you guys think? please let me know your thoughts!

I'm not too sure you should be with this girl. You've been on/off for a few years, and that's not a good sign at all. This just seems to be a disaster waiting to happen to me.

CindyCares agony aunt I guess she wants a firm committment from you and the ring would be the symbol of that "no going back " committment.

Then again, since you want to get married, and she wants to get married....I don't see that much of a problem here. Get her the ring ,set the date,and...live happily ever after !
