 Most of the contributors here have offered excellent input to a good question. Although you are too young, in our opinion, to participate in serious sexual activity, your question deserves an answer. When a person comes of legal age and maturity, the following pertains:
1. In a truly loving and meaningful relationship with strong potential for pertinence, sexuality is the most meaningful and deepest way to commit to the partnership. Unfortunately, too many people participate in sex as a sport without any kind of care, love or commitment. Such activity is okay as long as the participants share the lack of commitment and simply seek carnal gratification.
2. In either case, it is healthy (providing the participants are disease-free) and it feels good.

 SEX IS A BIG DEAL BECAUSE, ONE MISTAKE, AND YOU CAN'T EVER TAKE IT BACK ! .. No one can love your body and yourself more than how you should love it..So when you have sex you are giving someone something very special away for ever.
Another thing is that, you can't just live in the moment.. you have to think about the future, 5..10..years down the road, chances are you will no longer be with your first boyfriend..And when you meet someone really special to you, and he asks you, how many people have you had sex with, ARE YOU GOING TO BE PROUD OF YOUR ANSWER?
Protection is not 100 percent when you are active in having sex. There is ALWAYS someone who will tell you," I was using protection, and still got pregnant, or got some kind of disease," why do you think? Its not gonna happen to me, that is what everyone thinks, and that is the people who usually end up in that situation.THE ONLY SURE WAY, 100 PERCENT, IS BY NOT HAVING IT AT ALL. Until you can deal with anything that may come.
You are a very smart person, if you can step back and look around at people who have made the choice to have sex early in life, because of presure, temptation..you name it.. and got pregnant, or just found out it was a mistake.. and if you can learn from them and take a diffrent route, and not make the same mistake..
Then you are amongst the few young ones whom are wiser..

 You don't need to worry about it at your age, don't do it until your able to take care of a kid financially and you are not going to loose all your cash in stocks and bonds, and if you didn't understand what i just said you proved that you don't need to worry about it. Your young wait a while.

reader, anonymous, writes (4 December 2008): It's not a big deal for someone your age, atleast it shouldn't be. Take your time don't rush things. Don't even be curious, just focus on school now as cliche as that may sound. Although sex is an amazing thing, when you're in a truely committed and passionate relationship. You have a lot of years ahead of you sweetheart don't rush.
And when you are ready make sure you do it with someone who truely respects you and wants to remain exclusive, because honestly speaking if you make the wrong decision you will be paying the consequences because being sexually active really does affect you both physically and especially mentally. Be careful!

 It's also the one main act that's become overrated and exploited. I mean sex can't really prove that you love someone. Two thirteens year olds having sex wouldn't be as loving at all compared to two people who are devoted to each other and took the time to get married. I mean you don't have to pass a resource class to lay up with someone.

Well it is because for alot of people its the one main act where you can show how you love someone.
Another big deal is that alot of religions look down on sex and see it as a means of reproduction. Religious institutes(churches, cathedrals etc) ran alot of countries and for a very long time.
Another reason is that it is one of the most pleasurable feelings people can have.
But besides all that people re very nervous about trying it for the first time, Please dont let anyone force you into it because se can be good but it can just be a hundred times as worse!
