writes: Right, so long story short, I have been trying to conceive with no luck for just over a year. Periods have always been messed up. I'm not using any contraception. I have missed 7 periods in a row in the past and my doctor thought in the early months that i was pregnant. Well no joy. I've had scans, blood tests, just about everything going to find out if there is anything medically wrong with why i have not been able to conceive but no one seems to know whats wrong. Anyway i wanted some advice from other women. I don't know how to word this so I'm just gonna spill it. I've woken up on several occasions and my nipples have been burning with pain. Really fierce horrible pain. My boobs are naturally quite large but they don't appear to be swollen. I cant really feel any lumps either. They have not had any discharge and i have no reason to believe i am pregnant at the moment... I just wondered if anyone have ever experienced this before and if anyone has any ideas on what it could be. I've not been to my doctors about this as he is on holiday for a month! Any advice would be helpful!

Ok let me just put your mind at ease right now....
it is NOT anything serious, cancer does not cause pain !! it is more like an allergy, or ruff pressure on the nipples. IF you are concerned here is not the place you will get an answer to sooth the mind, your DR will do that. so go to the Dr for peace of mind, but I dont think you have anything to worry about.
P.S happy 4th of july guys it's also my nephews 21ST :) xxx

Pain is the body's main alarm system. You need to see a doctor. Don't rest until you get some answers, from MEDICAL minds, not minds sitting around on the internet swilling beer on a hot 4th of July, okay maybe that's just me, but you get my drift.

A friend of mine had mysterious pains in her breasts and clean mammograms. She bugged her doctor until she got an ultrasound of the breasts. Guess what. They found a 2 cm tumor behind a fibroid in one. An aggressive cancer but caught early, so a different set of chemo and radiation than if she'd waited the full year for the next mammogram.
Be very very annoying to your doctor and demand that they figure it out. Change doctors if you have to.
We're not going to be able to figure it out for you. We're just a bunch of amateur agony aunts with minimal medical expertise. Get proper care from a qualified, licensed practitioner.
You have to be your own medical care and health advocate. Go do it with the right people. Good luck.

You need to demand the doctor not dismiss it. I hate to say this, but for some reason doctors rarely take breast pain seriously if they think they can rule out cancer. I've had four different friends with random breast pains go in and be dismissed and/or prodded to tears because (in the doctor's words) breasts shouldn't hurt.
It could be any number of things starting with an infection (would be my first guess) and going to who knows what. You need to be pushy and demand they take it seriously and figure out what's wrong.

HI
Do you have an ill-fitting bra that is causing pressure on your nipples (some bras have seams that run right across the nipple...I have no idea why this is!). It could be as simple as your bra causing chaffing on your nipples; chaffing can be very painful to the touch, and may not be noticeable when you are wearing the bra...only when you remove the bra.
A few thoughts for you:
1. Seek out a bra-fitting specialist in your area, and try on a few different bras. It really could be as simple as this.
2. Just to rule out the obvious: have you changed detergents or soap that could be causing the skin irritation? Skin irritation caused by an outside irritant or allergen is usually referred to as "contact dermatitis", and is treated by avoiding the irritant or allergen.
3. There are also hair follicles around the areola of the nipple, and you may have an ingrown hair by your nipple (it could happen in both breasts, if you pluck or shave the hair)
4. The last thought I have, if the above do not help, is that your breasts do contain many glands, and general breast pain can be caused by hormonal imbalances. It sounds like your pain/irritation is more external, but may not hurt to rule out this possibility if the others do not relate.
5. Your options are to contact a Dermatologist or your Gynecologist, to be medically examined, if the pain does not dissipate. Pain in your nipples are most likely not cause for alarm, but whenever you are experiencing pain, your body is trying to tell you something, and your GYN would rather you be seen and rule out "nothing". Also with missing so many periods, I would question wether or not you are stressing and trying TOO hard for a baby, as stress can really put a hold on periods. Try some relaxing exercises, streching and breathing.
I hope this helps!

well google burning nipple pain and see that the first link is to Paget's Disease at cancer.org....
call your doctor and if you have already discussed this with the current doctor then find a new doctor.

I have no idea what's wrong with your nipples, but if you wake up with really horrible fierce burning pain in ANY part of your body, - no matter if it's nipples, neck or legs.... doesn't it make sense to see another doctor IMMEDIATELY, if yours is not available, or maybe make a trip to the ER ?

Missing your period seven months in a row, trying to conceive or not is not a good sign. If your current doctor is unable to give you answers as to why this is happening, then you should see another doctor.
