writes: hi i was hugging my new bf for the first time today and then we kissed (just a normal kiss but for quite a long time.anyway i heard ages ago that normally when boys are hugging and kissing their gf's they get an erection.well why do you think my bf didnt get an erection when he was hugging and kissing me?well i dont think he got an erection, but then again i dont really know how your supposed to know if they have one? any ideas??

Im 15 and this is totally normal. You may find this surprising but as some guys get boners whenever they get "sexually arroused", most boys around this age cant yet control when they get boners. He probablly got a boner a couple minutes later for no reason at all.

 Hey hey! This is a common misconception (guys getting boners (erections) because of a hug or kiss). Maybe if they are not mentally mature enough to suppress the urges, that is when his penis will perhaps become erect. It is possible, as the others have said, that he just wasn't as turned on as you thought he'd be. Guys love kissing, but it's not something that will make him ejaculate into his drawers, hehe...Unless you guys are REALLY passionately kissing and he's kind of younger...13-14 or 15, and not very experienced. Unless he's having a fantasy while kissing you, an erection probably won't happen.
How to tell? You'll be able to tell if his clothing is loose and he's pressed against you. Depending on how tall you are, you'll feel a firm 'mass' against your leg, hips, or belly. You'll usually notice a firm mass if you look at his crotch, around his pant-leg area. Don't laugh, don't really pay it never-no-mind unless he indicates he wants you to.

Guys get erections when they get sexually excited (sometimes they get them just because, but we're not talking about that). Maybe your kiss was just a really nice kiss... a romantic moment...
It probably didn't get him thinking "AHHHSEXSEXSEXSEXSEXBOOBSSEX" because it was more of a nice, sweet, romantic moment for him. When the kissing gets a little more intense, a little more passionate and it feels like his 'little friend' might get put to use, that's when the erections start to come into play.
Some guys kiss a girl and their mind goes STRAIGHT into their penis. Thank Goodness your boyfriend is a little classier than that. Sounds like you have a nicer guy on your hands (or at least one that doesn't kiss you and think "YES!! Let's bone.").

 It's okay! Some guys are able to control themselves and don't get an erection just through kissing and hugging. It really depends on the guy. As for how you know you can usually tell because when your groins are pressing together it feels hard. Or like the other person said you can see it by looking. Whatever happens though don't beat yourself up if he doesnt get an erection from kissing you. It doesn't mean he's not attracted to you, just that he's a bit better at self control than the average teenaged boy! Hope this helps.

 I dont know your age an i dont think it matters. as you get used to different partners you'l notice some are more slow to respond than others. I met guys who i could start getting frisky in seconds but some guys were so cold. I used lay them on my bed face down an corress an kiss his spine an shoulders. Also, what do you mean you don't know whether a guy would have an erection or not? Look at it - does it look like the little soldier is standing to attention? Is there a massive bump on the road? If there something that resembles a granite worm trying to squirm its way upwards? If you can't see it, try pressing your crotch against his.
