But atleast if it is that then you know he still wants you in his life, you're important to him but he just don't have feelings for you x

It seems he's a bit weary of what might happen if you got together. He likes you, but he's not fully confident that it would work out and he doesn't want to end up breaking up with you and hurting you. If you want to be with him, you may need to be prepared for him breaking up with you, or maybe you should wait until you're both confident that your relationship would work out. I hope this helps.

 It happens with lots of guys that they like some girl when they are talking with them but with time and may be after some thoughts this thing changes.So this second thing is of concern i.e, he doesn't like you no matter what he said at first.It hurts a lot to many but you can't get rid of the fact.So walk ahead, don't stay back but don't forget to make him realize that he has done a wrong thing by being moody like this.
