A female reader, anonymous, writes (3 April 2009):

Cocoa Butter is supposed to be really good at soothing stretch marks. There are some massage oils out there made specially for stretch marks. Skin itches for lots of reasons. Try the lotions first, and a milder detergent or shower gel etc. If it carries on get a nurse or doctor to check things for you.

crimson_kiss agony auntYou are normal to have your stretch marks itch, any woman who has had a child knows they do itch sometimes. Use lotion or oil to soothe the skin. If that does not do the trick, you could see your doctor or a dermatologist for further evaluation.

bobbles32 agony auntI think you're perfectly normal. The skin is stretched and dry so it needs more oils. Try putting on a lotion regularly or try a natural oil and rub it into the areas that are bothering you. If it persists for a while then it never hurts to be checked out by your family doctor. Congrats on the new born! :)
