writes: Well, Im 13 soon to be 14. Mainly for girls to answer, but I haven't gotten my period yet and im worried that theres a reason for it. Is there? Or does it just come slower for some people?

my sister got hers when she was 15 , and was irregular too ,, that isnt so uncommon but maybe u should see a doc , my sister had anemia so that was the reason maybe he would write u some vitamins that would help

All the other aunts are correct in saying that everyone matures at different rates. The average age is 12 1/2 years old, but there is no timetable. It's quite normal not to have gotten it at your age. :)

If you still haven't gotten your period by the time you are 15-16, then I would have a talk with a doctor. Really though, there is no "set" age, and some girls don't get theirs until they are 16 even.
Don't stress, just be happy you don't have to deal with it yet ;-)

yeah its no big thing some girls just mature faster than others i didn't start mine untill i was 16yrs old believe me its a good thing because once you get it you will wish you never did...lol no need to worry

reader, anonymous, writes (5 April 2009): It just depends on who you are, your family genes etc. I was 11 when I got mine, but my daughters aunt was almost 16. You are certainly within normal range. If you are that concerned talk to your mom or have her make an appointment with your doc. Dont worry you are fine!
