What's his problem? Why does he act this way around only me?

Question - (17 November 2009) 2 Answers - (Newest, 18 November 2009)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

There is this guy in one of my classes. I've noticed that he will not come near me. Like he needed a spot to work and instead of just going to the one that was next to me he went to the one on the other side, but the whole time he kept looking over at me. He won't talk to me. If he needs something or needs me to move he will wait until I move or notice him instead of just saying something like excuse me or even move. He is quiet and shy, but he will talk to other people including girls. No one else seems to do this. The only other person who did similar things was no other than his brother. He does do things like he will let me go before him or stuff like that, but he seems so scared to talk to me and it reminds me of his brother. What's his problem?

Another_Kapiti agony auntIt does sound to me that he fancies you. The very fact that he's able to talk to other girls (him being shy and quiet anyway) says that he's less into them than he is to you. I'm sure you've noticed that you always have no problem talking to guys who are friends or acquaintances but when it comes to someone you're crushing on, you get all tongue tied and embarrassed!

Talk to him, be a good friend and to my thinking he'll start to interact better.

Well perhaps he remembers you because of his brother, or he might fancy you and be very shy that he can't say anyting. Have you tried speaking to him much at all?
