I have had adult acne the last couple of years and have the same problem. I'm sure the lady like my self wash of our makeup off every nigth. Even go w/out. Only to apply the to many to count mascaras on and it's like a film (especially on the bottom) makes it not go on the eyelash properly. The one suggestion of Johnsons cond eyemake remover was a good one. I have been using the oil cleansing method hopful this would help, but still nothing. When I prime the eye first it's not so bad.

TasteofIndia agony auntWash off your makeup all the way at night. So important, keeping your skin clean. Also, take breaks from mascara... not going out that day? Skip it and give your lashes time to breathe.

Also, you may need a new tube of mascara. Your mascara sounds ilke it's seen better days and needs to be replaced!

doodles362 agony auntAre you taking off the old mascara from the day before? Or are youjust putting more on top of it ?

You have to make sure you clean all your make up off properly before you go to bed at night as left on make up is bad for your pores, if you make sure your cleaning it off correctly then your mascara should work fine.

if it still clogs after cleaning your lashes properly then buy a new mascara, makeup does go off and eventually go all horrid and clumpy.

hope this helped.

Doodles..xo

it may be to do with the mascara that you are using. if it's a cheap brand it may not be that greater quality. also how long have you had it for? they normally only last a few months before they go clumpy and horrid. i suggest you throw it away and buy a new one.

A reader, anonymous, writes (16 November 2008):

Hey! Go out and buy Jonhnsons conditioning waterproof eye makeup remover, soak a cotton pad in it, and hold it on each eye for about 2 minutes, then use it like normal to remove all the mascara.

Then use it every night before hou go to bed, to get all your eye makeup off!

I read that every night you sleep wiht makeup on, ages your skin 7 days, making you get wrinkles sooner! I dont know how true that is, but sleeping with makeup on isnt good for you!

Hope this helps!

A female reader, sarcy24 United Kingdom +, writes (16 November 2008):

sarcy24 agony auntIt is very important to remove all your eye make up at night with a waterproof eyemakeup remover or just water depending on the brand. The eye lashed get clogged when you are putting new mascara on top of an old one. This happened to me when I was about 17 and I had to get a friend with a scalpel to ease them apart. Definitely get a new mascara as this one is obvioulsy too thick and heavy for you. After you cleanse at night apply some vaseline to the ends of your lashes as this strenthens them and encorages them to grow.
